A degree is social work is beneficial as it will be trained to do counseling ( if you go to a decent school ) , plus it will be business as it is cheaper for insurance companies to pay . Even though it's best to get a master's if you choose social work / social assistance , because many of the jobs are specific subsidies and require a level of expertise or even a license. However, you will still be more marketable because , in essence , insurance companies / Medicaid will not pay more for their services .

A SW degree is more marketable and offers an entry into a MSW . If you are going to RESEARCH ,choose the Psych . It's all reading and research .You can easily get work with the social welfare degree.......Just look around you ...

Those two are different subjects and the difference is quiet variable one which we can see. This all depend upon the career you are in and the job you are doing? You have very clear idea if you can shoot your question in any of the college paper writers   blogs which they can help in solving your question.
