First, the test is too long! Can anyone find which parts are unnecessary? You think this is a good essay? grammatical errors? what my experiences sound sufficiently valid? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus This is the message: What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field - such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities -. And what they have gained from their participation MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm majoring in psychology, lit by my love of the brain, the human spark that produces a creative force so distinctive that no other species has a similar mental capacity. Anthropologists believe that, in the course of human evolution, increasing the size of our brain correlates with greater confidence in the culture. My mom always told me that it is easier to understand people when you understand the way they think. His focus was the Myer Briggs Type Indicator. Through countless personality tests given to nearly all of the dinner guests, I began to harbor a curiosity about the driving force behind the behavior, we now think of as culture. I am particularly interested in multicultural psychology. MedlinePlus For years, I dreamed of achieving the arts in the shadow of my parents. But as soon as I walked into my first class in psychology at the community college, science was never the same. I was thirteen and completely uncertain about what to expect in a social environment in which each student at least five years older than I, General Psychology was, in fact, the first class I took in a classroom. The teacher, with a sensitive and passionate mood approach allowed all students to share their experiences of life, from the tragic joy. As I listened, I realized that everyone has a different story and a different way of seeing the world. It was not uncommon for me to leave class crying, inspired to look after the welfare of others. MedlinePlus Semesters later, I took a psychology class multicultural and has learned to apply the components of culture in counseling. In this class, I began to understand my own social identity as well. I realized that all the components of my wife, agnostic bi-racial, lesbian identity vegetarian athlete and was important in shaping my worldview. This class also sparked my desire to make contact with and learn about as many cultures as possible. This year, the most important year of my life, I have achieved this goal. My psychology club organized an event for Temple Grandin, who graduated with a doctorate in animal science despite having autism. Not only had the opportunity to meet this inspirational woman, but also was given the opportunity to hear her talk about how easy it is to educate people with mental disabilities if we understand their thinking, whether verbal, visual, or in the patterns. His words reminded me of the lessons I had learned from my mother. In recent months, I have volunteered in my community kitchen Open Heart, feeding those who are unable to maintain jobs. This experience has taught me that it is so often the stigma attached to these people that translates into poverty or indigence. In September, I attended a workshop at the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center in San Francisco Community, who taught me about the many different layers of sexual identity, the use of gender-neutral pronouns, and how to communicate respectfully with people are victims of discrimination or depression because of their sexual orientation. This allowed me to go beyond my own understanding of the experience to understand the experience homosexual transsexual. Finally, I have volunteered twice a week at a primary school in the Mission District of San Francisco of the organization, members of the reading, which provides one-on-one tutor students who are behind in reading and comprehension. I've been exposed to many of the values, traditions and interests of low-income children, families speak Spanish to help in teaching English as the only of all students, the cultural perspective. In light of the lessons I have learned, my dream is that no human being can be denied access to the vast resources of the United States. I dream that one day will be the investigator, the service provider, the counselor, and the caregiver of the minds of these individuals as they experience a vast, multicultural America. This is the same multicultural America that I think has my future in pursuing higher education in college.

At school I enjoyed studying Art, English and Psychology. In particular, I enjoyed art as it has allowed me to be creative and explore new ideas. I think a degree in elementary education and art specialists allows me to share my passion for being creative. My primary interest in education began when I took part in two weeks of work experience, I worked with the age group 5-11. I've been looking through my tutor a few times and am going to have a meeting with someone to go through this ... I was wondering if I could get some constructive feedback on it so far, I am applying for English Language BA Hons. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Character Count: 3992 MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Languages have always fascinated me, the structure, evolution, the meaning. From the time he was able to understand the language, I was forced to read and write. And for as long as I can remember, I have been an active writer of both fiction and creative pieces of poetry, as well as actively searching for books of all genres. MedlinePlus This has led me to take on extracurricular activities such as Debating Society has helped and improved my spoken English. In high school, I was a member of the magazine and have continued this in college that has this helped me in my English writing well. MedlinePlus While in college, I was eager to study English Language and English Literature, both of which have fueled my passion for writing and reading, as well as the creation of interests in other areas such as language development, differentiation dialect and language history. Outside of class, I found myself extending my learning on topics that capture my attention further, as the Old and Middle English or researching accents. The English language I'm always interested in its historical evolution and diversity, how it came to be and how it continues to change, learn about these during my college has made me determined and eager to continue my learning of English in higher education. Also, my choice of Psychology has helped me learn about how people interact and learn, and has given me a vision that will help me in my ambition to teach others. MedlinePlus In my first year of college, I was clear in the knowledge that in the future I wanted to teach English as a subject. I've always liked teaching, as in the past I have experience working with young children and volunteered at a center for children in which I have been working for over a year. This has earned me an award V50 and am currently working my way quickly to achieve 100 hours volunteering. By completing this degree, my goal is to apply and participate in the JET Program, which offers graduates the opportunity to teach abroad in Japan for at least a year. This will allow me to be surrounded by Japanese culture and hone my skills in teaching English and Japanese language learning more. This year abroad will give me valuable experience and skills that will stay with me when my time on the JET program is over and back to England with the intention of finding jobs teaching English. MedlinePlus In general, I feel that my experience and skills make me an ideal candidate for a career and I hope to continue my studies and become a part of the university.
Would anyone care to review my personal statement?0toyhier2012-11-06 05:03:22
I want to go to University in September (Anglia Ruskin to be specific, 240 points) and this is my personal statement! I want to do Psychology Bsc (hons). Soooo yeah, this is my first draft, please be as harsh as possible, i want to get it the best it can be! Thank you! x ------ My deep interest in psychological studies sprung from an early age, by reading a range of books, my main influence surprisingly geared towards entertainment. The book in question was “Tricks of the Mind”, authored by Derren Brown. I realise this may seem a bit silly, yet in this book he wrote about the study of the mind, how he took psychology at University and loved it. It also gave me an elemental understanding of basic human behaviour, attachments, rapport and even suggestibility. This whole area seemed like an exciting delve into understanding functions, knowing how we work and what secrets of daily life are revealed through the tangled jungle of the human mind. This has carried on fascinating me through to this day. I believe my life experiences, even at this young age, make me an ideal candidate for a degree, and later on a career in psychology. My previous employment has taught me many skills not only for the course, yet also for life, Discipline, patience and punctuality just to name a few. I started work at the age of 15 in a restaurant and café area at Bewl Water Reservoir, This included working in many roles there, but mostly serving food and handling money at the front of house. This is around the time I started to gain an interest in psychology, I found observing customers behaviour fascinating! I began to read up on human behaviour on the internet in order to see patterns in the customers. My boss here was what you could call… Strict, she would usually manage to fire at least 1 person a fortnight. I managed to stay here for over a year under this management and I consider that a great achievement! My boss eventually got outbid on the lease to the restaurant so I decided to move on. I now work at the supermarket, The Co-operative. I feel my range of employment has taught me many transferable skills to proudly bring into a university lifestyle. working in sociable jobs focused around people, makes me a perfect candidate to study such a people based course, as I have had so much practise dealing with differing situations in differing roles, I very much enjoy getting involved in the schools activities and helping spread a good word. I found myself getting involved in speeches and really enjoyed it, something many have trouble with; I grew to love! I eventually decided to apply to become a prefect at Angley, in order to, not only help the inner school workings, but also the whole reputation around the wider community, which I feel is very important being based in such a rural area of Kent. After my degree, I plan to stay on in full time education and progress to a masters degree, maybe to become a psychology teacher, or simply branch out into a more specific area of expertise, such as an occupational psychologist. The research aspect also looks very appealing, the ability to create world leading data and changing the way human-kind thinks is mindblowing! And with my commitment and passion to everything psychology, I think this is a real-life possibility.

Is my personal statement good? 10 pts!! interesting!?0Allard2012-10-06 08:22:56
I can not add to everything here based limit, but here are my first two paragraphs. Please help me concise, editing, grammar. review. etc. Thanks sooo much 10 pts! MedlinePlus Watching my parents business all my life has aroused my interest in wanting to become a person humanly resources, which can improve the workplace, both physically and psychologically. Being a keen observer of the daily stresses and discovering solutions for their businesses has made me learn a lot about how people function in the workplace. One dimension of success lies in the quality of work of thinking. At an early age, my work ethic has gone from an employee of a manager's perspective. I learned that a company will survive if employees have the mindset of giving priority to the goal of the organization, while managers listen and offer feedback. There were business employees first my parents who have no integrity which caused my father's business failure. Seeing them suffer for a time, made me think about how I could improve their situation. With a little introspection, I quickly learned why I was internally motivated to succeed. I think the motivation comes from pain and pleasure. It broke my heart to see my parents failed in their first business and what made me help them with all my will. My pleasure came from seeing to not give up and have the will to succeed in the current business they have now. I think people are motivated by different experiences and know that every employee had to find a reason to be motivated. Knowing this at an early age has made me become encouraged me to succeed in all aspects of my work, household chores, and even school. Now, I know that finding that intrinsic motivation in others, hoping to find that quality is manifested in their personalities. My passion for the field of Industrial Organizational Psychology stems from my experience of seeing the pain that my parents endured when their business collasped, but managed to succeed in opening a new one. I have been inspired by them and want to help improve companies by finding the best fit of personnel because I strongly believe strategies of recruitment and retention of people, build a solid foundation for a business. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus To prepare for my future to become a Human Resources Manager, I am currently a double major in Communication and Psychology as a basis for understanding the underlying meaning of what inspires people. To continue with my passion in people, started volunteering at the Center for Student Recruitment and Retention, which strives to attract and retain students of color in higher education. Every week, I find that the guardians of each department and activities to connect students to feel part of a group. The best way I've found to retain students is to make them feel involved in a group activity, then they know they have a duty and find an interest in staying in school and doing well. In the end, everyone is close and who are convinced of his work as a student. I have also chosen an internship at the Graduate Program Advocacy Academic achievement because I think it would benefit most and dropout rates are high. Together, my team administers surveys to meet student needs and quickly develop strategies to provide support for the application process of the Graduate School. Many college students, including myself sought a mentor assistance for the process of applying to college. This project was successful because our main reason was to build a community of similar interests and graduate students and undergraduates network because eventually, students in the same field will become colleagues. Also, another request was to have research classes, where students would be able to carry out their own research. In C.U. Davis, I worked with Professor Grimm as his research assistant and am familiar with the use of SAS and R. I am contributing my ideas of what I have learned in my empirical research class and my assistance with Professor Grimm to the research class. Ideas start at a micro level, and become a community mini projects eventually aspire to achieve the overall goal of improving education. I'm doing what I want to be on a micro level in my community. My enthusiasm for helping others to overcome barriers is what defines my personality and work ethic. With respect to employment, I will find the right people for the job and find the right person and find ways to keep them to build them in the strongest individuals. I hope to learn all the functions of Industrial Organization to meet the objectives of the organization within a company. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus My last paragraph talks about how if this motivation is universal? because I am interested in cross cultural studies. if universal .. lets test it and appy what we learn in the workplace to improve .. etc
