When I was in college as an undergrad I majored in psychology with a concentration in quantification, having the original intention of seeking statistical work, which did not require extracurricular research outside of a research oriented course requirement for my degree program. I wasn't planning on getting my master's or doctorate. Now that I've graduated, I've started to consider a doctorate more and more, (great time to change my mind, I know!) I know that research experience in a lab is a requirement for admission in a lot of different grad programs, and that it's the norm to obtain this during your undergraduate career. But are there any other options to participate in a research lab post-graduation? I've been looking in the classifieds for research assistant jobs but haven't had much luck. Or would a university perhaps let me work for a lab even though I'm no longer an undergraduate?
