Psychology:Please take a minute to rate each of the statements below as TRUE or FALSE.?0bobbi help???????2012-11-05 17:31:02
Please take a minute to evaluate each of the following statements as TRUE or FALSE MedlinePlus. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 1.) _____ Abnormal behaviors are always bizarre. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 2.) _____ A clear distinction can be made between "normal" and "abnormal" behavior. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 3.) _____ As a group, former mental patients are unpredictable and dangerous. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 4.) _____ Mental disorders indicate a fundamental deficiency in personality, so they are a disgrace. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 5). _____ Because mental illness is so common, there is no reason to be afraid of his own vulnerability. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 6.) _____ Geniuses are particularly prone to emotional disorders. MedlinePlus 7.) _____ Mental disorders are incurable. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The correct answer for each of these statements is false, but many people real answer to at least one statement, so it's okay if you too J MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Here are some more details on each of the questions: MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 1.) Abnormal behaviors are always bizarre. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus This view can be perpetuated by the media because often extreme behavior is more likely to be reported. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 2.) A clear distinction can be made between "normal" behavior and "abnormal". MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Abnormality is a matter of degree, not all people fall neatly into one of two categories. Abnormality has a poor fit between the behavior and the situations in which was enacted (eg, talking to oneself when alone against self-talk in the grocery store). MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 3.) As a group, former mental patients are unpredictable and dangerous. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The typical former mental patient is no more volatile or dangerous than people in general. Again, exceptions to this rule generate more media attention. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 4.) Mental disorders indicate a fundamental deficiency in personality, so they are a disgrace. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus For all I know, everyone shares the potential to become disorganized and abnormal behavior. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 5). Because mental illness is so common, there is no reason to be afraid of his own vulnerability. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Mental disorders should be understood as maladaptive responses that are understandable within a given context. The average person has an excellent chance of becoming messy and never fully recover if it happens. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 6.) Geniuses are particularly prone to emotional disorders. MedlinePlus Terman study of high-IQ children showed that high IQ people actually can be well adapted to the general population. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus 7.) Most mental disorders are incurable. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Between 70 and 80 percent of hospitalized mental patients recover. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Swinkles, manual A. (2005) Instructor Resources Psychology S. Kassin. Englewood Cliffs, NJ:. Prentice Hall MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus This activity aims to highlight some of the misconceptions about people with mental illness. Many misconceptions about any group are due to the stigma and stereotypes, he also learned in this module. If you answered true to any of the statements, reflect on where you think you may have learned this misinformation and / or why you think others have misconceptions about mental illness? Finally, what can be done to eliminate misunderstandings of this kind?
Is calling a suicidal person mentally ill a ridiculous generalization and/or completely false?3LeWeane2012-10-13 09:36:03
I.E. Say a person , that is the whole life was ahead of him , he graduated from high school with a 5.0 , and plans to major in psychology , and loving parents who support him every step of way.Unknowingly , this person ( lets call him Rick ) whole family dies in a plane crash , and I was expecting them to come back the next day, and wondered why it took so long and did not call. Rick had big things planned with her dad and little brother was about to celebrate his 6th birthday. Everything was going to be great! Until suddenly receives a phone call , and has a brief conversation with someone who says that his entire family is dead . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus He does not know how he feels . He tried to deny that it was a joke , but the authentic voice of the medical evidence to the contrary . As was just absolute shock disbelief , sitting in the same position it was in when I replied that awful phone call until the next day with the same blank expression . Suddenly , stay out of it and then he begins to duel . She moans and cries until there are no tears . The trauma becomes so overwhelming that it became reckless , and the momentum going into the kitchen , grab the biggest, sharpest knife drawer and bars his neck. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Do you want to call this person " a coward " ? or " mentally ill" ? Intelligent answers please. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus - Thanks

I'm about to graduate from UCLA with a B.A. Psychology . Of course , I knew that the chances were very sad and vague in terms of employment unless you have intentions of attending graduate school . I'm thinking of applying for the program for the Navy OCS . However, I attended a seminar with the club soon to be graduate business administrator. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Most of them advised me to enter the business world with my title . But how the hell are applied to my business career ? They were trying to describe how psychology plays a vital role in the company through the calculation and analysis of consumer behavior with respect to the purchase , marketing and overspending . Maybe I should of asked more questions to them . But what kind of jobs were most likely talking about? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Any help with be deeply appreciated!
