I have 20 years and have never had a positive view of myself . My parents divorced when I was younger . I recently started counseling . And I feel like I could be helping , but it may be too early to tell. I'm a sophomore in college , in search of a master ( or beyond) of child psychology or counseling psychology . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm not trying to be one of those people who feel sorry for themselves. I just want to love myself . I feel that everyone deserves to be truly happy with themselves . I can not understand how !

Well, for me, has always been a real struggle and still is. MedlinePlus In fact, I'm going to answer this question, not because they have "the answer", but because I am hoping to find the answer myself, and maybe writing a response to help me too. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I never had my own room until I was 15 and always slept in the lounge. I always thought my problem getting in school was very good and normal for a guy my age ... MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I did not even know it was a problem until recently in the last year that lasted very badly and had to go to anger management because I broke a bone. I mean, once you admit that I had self-confidence issues ... I was strong, I thought it was the bomb, etc MedlinePlus MedlinePlus His advice and found a psychiatrist help. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus For me ... I realized recently that I have always tried to find my confidence in the approval of others ... so I would try to get rich, so that I could show how rich he was, yelling at my teammates, do what I pleased ... dating a pretty girl I could tell myself that I was worthy of such love. I walked around like a king, strong and even act like I'm the king ... But all these were outside ... not from within ... but still hollow inside, and deep down I felt helpless, alone and desperate. (See what I can label these feelings, instead of saying I'm angry) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus You see, every time someone questioned this picture of me, I painted myself, I would get really angry ... so if someone took my money, or my girl argued or ultimately left me, I would definitely turn. Why? not the money itself or the same girl, but because I attached my trust with them and they took him with them. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So in a sense he had no control over anything. My girlfriend would make me however she wanted me to feel, my money and greed controls my decisions instead of heart, any increase could randomly unstable environment me. If someone owed me some money, my pride / image convinced me to punish them, but I really did not want the money. I had nothing inside and was completely out of control. In a sense, it was a complete puppet to my world and the person who was trying very hard to become. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So I thought that if I wanted to be free, self confidence was true. That way my decisions on my own, my feelings could not dictate what to do, people could not tell me who I was and I thought maybe for once, I'd like to have some peace and happiness. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I have written all this and still I have no answer ..... MedlinePlus If you find it please tell me. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus These days I just look around and try to enjoy all the beauty around me randomly, try to see the best in people, and I think to myself. "With all these amazing things will continue to happen, whether I'm here or not, so this amazing universe keeps turning.'s Not about me at all .... but I want to be here to enjoy it."
MedlinePlus Not perfect, but I try. The best thing is to keep trying, I guess.

There are some simple steps to improve self confidence: MedlinePlus Smile. People like nice people - and nothing says that someone is accessible as a smile. It has been shown that the smile on the outside will improve the mood of a person. The combination of feeling better and making gestures and smiles of others is a great confidence booster for. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Maintain good posture. Perched high improves the appearance of a person and it shows that the person feel safe and confident. Poor posture, on the other hand, can deplete a person's energy and stress on your back and shoulders. However, a person obtains his position, standing is a simple thing that goes a long way to show confidence. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Making eye contact. People feel very shy often avoid looking at others. Unfortunately, the message that often end up giving is "Leave me alone!" Meeting someone look - whether it is a stranger or an interviewer cute work - let them know that a person is accessible and secure. People used to keep their eyes may have difficulty looking at others, but this will improve with time. Shy people can practice holding a gaze for two seconds, and then more, until you work up to five seconds. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The preparation for the events. Some things are stressful enough without sabotaging people. But sometimes people avoid unsafe preparing things that make them feel uncomfortable ... which only increases their anxiety and decreases their performance ... it makes them feel that they were right in thinking that they are not good at anything. The best way to stop this cycle and feel confident in giving a speech or going to an interview or dancing in public or what is know what to expect and what to do. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Be bold. If it comes to giving a speech or dance in public, sometimes people have to get out there and do something that does not come naturally or do not feel comfortable. Most things get easier with experience. People have to push through their fears to see that they are mostly unfounded. It will be a little easier each time until it is no longer necessary to go through the self-confidence ... is really there. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Give yourself some slack. Nobody is perfect, but people tend to obsess over what you do not like about themselves. People who do this do not give others much of the opportunity to observe all things about them that are great. When self-defeating thoughts start, people have to take a deep breath and move on. Almost everyone feels insecure at times, but confident people do not let those doubts control. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Know when to say no. People who lack confidence sometimes leave used by others. Perhaps the pleasure that others notice their existence, or will not disappoint. Whatever the reason, it is important not to be used. Decreases one's confidence and can even put a person in a dangerous situation. People who do not give someone the time of day unless you are doing something for them not worth the effort. Being able to say that it shows a person cares for itself and can be a great boost to. Confidence MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Taking care of oneself. People often do not realize how their emotions and their physical interact. When people do not get enough sleep, do not provide the right fuel for your body, and do not move their bodies, it's hard to feel good about themselves. Taking care of your body will lift the mood of a person, increase your energy level and improve your appearance ... making it much easier to feel confident.

As someone with chronic PTSD and complex as a result of multiple traumas and a lot of abuse , including sexual abuse in childhood , I can say that my view of myself is based on what I call my "code of honor " and how well they respect me for it. This does not mean that I do not suffer attacks of doubt and insecurity in relation to other people or even in what I can accomplish in a given time as I am disabled by PTSD . But I know who I am , what I believe and why I believe in it, so I know why I do what I do. I am my own person . Therapy can help you get there , but you're the one to define.
