How can i have true self confidence?

I have 20 years and have never had a positive view of myself . My parents divorced when I was younger . I recently started counseling . And I feel like I could be helping , but it may be too early to tell. I'm a sophomore in college , in search of a master ( or beyond) of child psychology or counseling psychology . I can not understand how !

Well, for me, has always been a real struggle and still is. MedlinePlus In fact, I'm going to answer this question, not because they have "the answer", but because I am hoping to find the answer myself, and maybe writing a response to help me too. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I never had my own room until I was 15 and always slept in the lounge. I always thought my problem getting in school was very good and normal for a guy my age ... MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I did not even know it was a problem until recently in the last year that lasted very badly and had to go to anger management because I broke a bone. I mean, once you admit that I had self-confidence issues ... I was strong, I thought it was the bomb, etc MedlinePlus MedlinePlus His advice and found a psychiatrist help. I realized recently that I have always tried to find my confidence in the approval of others ... so I would try to get rich, so that I could show how rich he was, yelling at my teammates, do what I pleased ... dating a pretty girl I could tell myself that I was worthy of such love. I walked around like a king, strong and even act like I'm the king ... But all these were outside ... not from within ... but still hollow inside, and deep down I felt helpless, alone and desperate. (See what I can label these feelings, instead of saying I'm angry) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus You see, every time someone questioned this picture of me, I painted myself, I would get really angry ... so if someone took my money, or my girl argued or ultimately left me, I would definitely turn. Why? not the money itself or the same girl, but because I attached my trust with them and they took him with them. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So in a sense he had no control over anything. My girlfriend would make me however she wanted me to feel, my money and greed controls my decisions instead of heart, any increase could randomly unstable environment me. If someone owed me some money, my pride / image convinced me to punish them, but I really did not want the money. I had nothing inside and was completely out of control. In a sense, it was a complete puppet to my world and the person who was trying very hard to become. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So I thought that if I wanted to be free, self confidence was true. That way my decisions on my own, my feelings could not dictate what to do, people could not tell me who I was and I thought maybe for once, I'd like to have some peace and happiness. As someone with chronic PTSD and complex as a result of multiple traumas and a lot of abuse , including sexual abuse in childhood , I can say that my view of myself is based on what I call my "code of honor " and how well they respect me for it. This does not mean that I do not suffer attacks of doubt and insecurity in relation to other people or even in what I can accomplish in a given time as I am disabled by PTSD . But I know who I am , what I believe and why I believe in it, so I know why I do what I do. I am my own person . Therapy can help you get there , but you're the one to define.
