Would I be able to pursue a Masters/Phd in English with a BFA in Creative Writing?0NDW2012-10-14 23:49:03
I'm thinking of writing a double major in psychology and creative . I do not want to limit my options for my future too . I have really wanted to work on my writing skills , however , I find that reading in English tests and reviews a little dry . I also think a BFA in creative writing exclusively could help me apply my time and focus to writing. However, it is probable / possible for me to be accepted into a strong English program if my degree is not specifically " English " ? (If you decide to go this route . )
English major with minors in political science, art history and psychology or english poli sci double major?0Kenshiro2012-11-04 11:56:03
I am a sophomore with 18 hours in poli sci completed, I am also beginning my english major in the spring. I am burned out with poli sci, in college all the poli sci classes are either IR or Comparative politics. My interest is in congress, the senate, presidents and law. I am interested in art history and psychology, my poli sci major would be done at the end of the semester. I have one psychology course done so far and liked it. I am either going to law school or getting a masters degree so triple minoring or double minoring wouldn't be for any other reason than getting my gen-eds completed. What do you think? A English/Political Science double major, or an English major with two/three minors?
Is it possible to get a Master's in Creative Writing and a Doctorate in Psychology?2becho.becho2012-10-27 01:36:03
I Double Major in Creative Writing and Psychology , and get my master's or MFA in Creative Writing , a then get a Ph.D. or Psy.D. Psychology . I want to go into clinical psychology as a career , but I also want to continue my interest in creative writing , and I imagine this would be a good way to do it . XD I asked several teachers at my high school , and most of them believed it was possible to obtain a doctorate outside the field of his master , but I thought it would be a good idea to raise the issue here . Thanks for any information you can add on the subject !

What careers can creative writing land me?0tameisha2012-10-23 01:43:50
I recently graduated from college with two degrees in most - useless : psychology and sociology . During the last year of school he had stated that he wanted to pursue a career in creative writing . Specifically , I would like to write for the entertainment industry - . Shows, video games , etc. I realize , however , that this is a noble goal and one that takes time and perseverance to achieve MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Meanwhile, I would like to find some kind of job or career that uses my creative writing skills . I have to make a living , and although it was difficult to get a job at a fast food restaurant or a department store or the like , doing something relevant to my future goals would be both more enjoyable and more useful for achievement of these objectives . < Br > MedlinePlus The problem is that I have no idea what 's out there . I am not politically mind in the least , so you write for a newspaper or similar is completely out. Storytelling seems to be a mostly useless talent in the field of financial security , with the exception of the few authors whose works are being very well received . Not exactly have time right now to go write a novel , anyway . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So my question is , does anyone know what else it could do with a surplus of talent with the written word ? Or just suck it up and start applying at McDonalds and Wal - Mart ?
Help in deciding a profession when my main interests are creative writing, psychology, teaching, art and Engli?0Fiona2012-11-03 02:49:50
My main interests are creative writing, psychology and teaching but I am also interested in English and art. I was thinking maybe an art therapist or English teacher or a professor in any of the subjects but I don't really know. What are the differences in pay and experience between being a teacher with an education major or a professor? I have a passion for creative writing but figure it will be hard finding a teaching position if I major in it. Also I really want to study psychology or counseling but don't know if I'm right to handle patients, I'm really sensitive and feel that I'll be depressed every day but I want to help people so I don't know. I was figuring there isn't a great demand for psychology teachers either if I wanted to be one but I’m not sure. I mean teaching sounds good because you get to hang out with kids all day and I'd way rather spend my days with youth with innocence and energy than adults in a cubicle, talk about boring, but I've heard a lot of teacher horror stories, like bad kids that are impossible, wages so low you struggle to live off of it, such rigid curriculums and bosses that you can't breathe without permission. I know some are exaggerations but I don't know I'm only a freshman in college so I don't really have any experience in any profession and was hoping for some advice, insight, answers, opinions, experiences, or just anything you have to offer. Thanks!
Can I double major in english education and psychology?0dot2012-11-04 01:03:03
Is it too difficult and take too many years ? Obviously I want to graduate in four years , but five years would be fine too . Are these careers enough? I want to be an English teacher , but later in my life, a clinical psychologist . So , if two products then go to graduate school in clinical psychology . My school does not accept clinical psychology unless you 're getting your degree in psychology . Any advice ? I attend FSU , if this helps . :) Thanks !
Is getting a Masters Degree in Creative Writing a waste of time?7Highland Middle2017-10-27 10:10:55
I have a degree in psychology , which I found to be useless . And I'm thinking about going back to school and get a master's degree in Creative Writing , because I enjoy writing and would love to learn more techniques to make myself a better writer . I am worried , however, that this measure will not open many doors in the job market (just as my psychology degree has failed to do) . Any idea ? Thank you.
