I'm applying for counseling in master's degree. Is school counseling or mental health counseling better?1memFISTO 2012-10-24 01:06:03
I want to study in counseling psychology for my Masters . I have to decide whether to study school counseling or mental health counseling , because most colleges are divided into the following categories . I know the school counseling work in schools , mental health and work in society . I've seen some school counselors say there is much paperwork to do at work that is not related to their profession . Is this true ? I would rather work with children and families. I am very confused about which to choose. I would like to know the good and the bad of being a mental health counselor and school counselor . There are also job opportunities much ? Thank you very much !

Can I wear this to a grad school interview?2Susana2012-10-26 00:43:03
I have an interview for the graduate school ( Applied Psychology ) directly after work today. I'm wearing a knee-length dress , the kind that looks like a blouse on top. The skirt can be described as a very mild to- cut line or a slightly flared skirt ( no significance , tight skin ). The skirt is black and the top is white with a subtle pattern . The overall look is very conservative and professional , unless the blouse is sleeveless . No spaghetti straps or thin strips of any kind - only without sleeves . I'm wearing socks and black shoes near fingers . Is 95 degrees and the humidity in my area today . I have 27 years and I've been in labor for 5 years and this dress is considered very professional looking for my colleagues , but I'm not sure if it is suitable for a formal interview . Do I have to go home and change? Note that I have not a costume.
Went to a grad school interview and didn't make the cut. :( Comments?4Shakespear2012-10-26 18:55:02
I applied to 10 graduate schools for several doctoral programs ( clinical psychology , social , etc . ) I've already been rejected by one ... but , I was invited to an interview for another ( psychiatry clinical program ) ! Unfortunately , I was notified that made the cut ... or even the waiting list . This devastated me completely! I wonder now if I should even go ahead with this project graduate school. I can not believe how it hurts me that I do not go I think it was because they took the time to fly , smile on my face , shake my hand , and with the formalities ... only to be told they did not come I guess I should be happy that I did the interview ... but what really makes the rejection harder. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am exceptionally down on my luck , and I 'm just looking for comments , suggestions , perk -me- ups for me out of this impasse . I guess it should apply only to some Master's programs ... : ( MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I have not received a reply to any of my other applications ...

Applying to grad school for psychology: Is any kind of research experience ok?0aurthur2012-11-02 01:35:09
When applying for a graduate degree in psych (at the doctorate level), what kind of research experience is needed? Im thinking of doing some research at a local hospital, but it has more to do with nutrition and biology than psych per se. Is this ok, or does the research need to be directly related to psych???? What are some good ways to get more experience? (I just graduated in Dec, so I'm not at school anymore, anyway, none of my professors were doing any)...
