What is the current research in brainstorming thought organization?2Lucy King2017-11-30 05:36:50
I am looking for references to current research in cognitive psychology on what are effective methods that people use to organize ideas developed through brainstorming to arrive at conclusions and solutions to problems. I'm interested in a "meta " view as to how people cognitively represent information that begins disorganized (ie , in the form of random thoughts ) and use these representations to organize thoughts, determine what is important , and draw conclusions .

What if I were to have " Trauma Survivors States" or " One day at a time" or " PTSD survivors States." something . I am very open to suggestions ! MedlinePlus Also, I want to start the creation of a website with frequently asked questions ( such as data on PTSD ) , a little about me section ( I was diagnosed with PTSD 3 years ago , but have made great progress in healing , so I think it would help people know someone who really knows what they are feeling and going ) , a blog , and above all , a chat room for people to go to (which would momnitoring at certain times of day) and have a sort of online group therapy . I'm not sure if I should major in accounting , computer science, or psychology . Not to be a psychologist , because I do not want my patients stalking me and my girlfriend and stuff like crazy. I thought I was over this...depression help?0Neda2012-10-25 05:54:08
Um, okay. MedlinePlus I posted several questions on this site and on depression. MedlinePlus But I still need help. I guess I have to give a little background on my situation .... MedlinePlus MedlinePlus At first I was not sure whether or not I suffer from depression. That question is still ... but, I do not know. I think I've finally come to accept that I should be able to be happy. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I have all the symptoms: MedlinePlus MedlinePlus -Wanting to sleep all the time MedlinePlus -Feeling wanted to mourn at various times during the day (no apparent reason) MedlinePlus -Extreme stress MedlinePlus Low self-esteem MedlinePlus -Insulation. MedlinePlus - Thoughts of suicide. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I became even more depressed when I realized exactly what I was doing to myself. I was away all my loved ones ... when in fact, it was something in my life that need them most. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I became very involved with an online forum where I met my old friends. It was as if, the moment the internet was my life. It was like if the outside world is so cruel ... is so difficult to treat, why should I? MedlinePlus anymore? So I gave up. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I was really well-liked in this forum, and it seemed best friend with them than with my family and my friends from school. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus As proabbly I can tell, my isolation promoted. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus So ..... things started to get even worse. My online friends that I had been talking for months, kept going. Not connected already, and somehow just stopped talking. So, there I was ... lonely and pathetic. I realized that I had no one left. No my friends from school, and he had decided to ignore the outside world .. not my family ... and my internet friends that I had begun to count for any stictch of happiness. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus That's when I decided to try and improve. So I searched online advice and did everything that was recommended. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I tried to make me smile more, because even though I was not really happy, it felt good to have people think I was .. MedlinePlus I also began to call the few friends that I had more often. I met more friends, listen to music (happy music, sad music no darkness that had been listening before), I started running again .... MedlinePlus and stay away from the computer. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Improves. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Actually I think I did. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus For about two months ... I cried less, slept easier .... MedlinePlus I dread school so much, and I made a new friend. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I was ... a little happy. For a little while. Now I'm back to the way it was before ... and it really hurts. Not only will one day return. I notcied slowly creeping back. But this time I could not fix it. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus so do not really know how to word my question. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I guess I want to know if this is normal? Can anyone really be cured in this way .... someone can get rid of your depression for a short period of time? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus because I'm honestly very confused. I really do not know what else to do. I have only 14 ..... and I've been dealing with this for about two years. I have not told anyone yet, since I'm pretty sure my friends and family do not take too well my suicidal thoughts. MedlinePlus Just .. guhh. Help? I know this is very long, but I'd appreciate it.
This thought is ruining my life?0math student2012-11-04 07:02:58
Hi everyone, I am 15 years old and my life is ruined by a weird thought, that feeds on me. It came about a year ago because I developed anxiety and depression from being bullied. I got help and I am completely over it, but after that my anxiety was out of control. I then developed intrusive thoughts. I developed depersonalization disorder, which scared me but I got over it. The intrusive thoughts are just plain weird and don't make sense to anyone. But I always question my thoughts. Every thought I have, wether it is waking up, or straightening my hair, getting up from the couch. I think "What should I be thinking?" Its repeated. Then it takes over, I have to block the thought out, which gives me panic attacks and makes me angry. I have started cutting myself. I am the only one in the world who thinks like this. I try to tell myself to stop, because it is doing damage, but I can't, it is still repeated in my head, over and over again. Why is it when I am not thinking about it, I feel like it is still there? I also feel like its the most important thought ever to think. I can't stop. My symptoms are: - depression - anxiety - tiredness - burning eyes - vision problems - shakiness - getting sick a lot - Insomnia I wish I could stop because I really want to live, I have so many good things a head of me and I love life. But this thought is with me ALL THE TIME. Is there any tips please? Why does it feel like the most important thought? Please give me some helpful links. Also please don't tell me to see a doctor, I have seen two and they blame my anxiety. Please help, I can't concentrate in school or work. Thanks :)
Do you think the current DSM IV is useful?0Jonah2012-10-20 14:40:53
I'm no expert in this field, but I am a graduate and we did meet some psychology. This is my understanding, and I would like to know what others think. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The study of the mind is the study of mental behavior. For example, it may be the study of language, memory or recognition. MedlinePlus The treatment of "bad behaviors learned", resulting in stress, for example ... - Are treated by psychiatrists MedlinePlus. MedlinePlus It is a work of psychiatrists to learn behaviors that are causing anxiety - then something very strange happens in my opinion, we give a series of behaviors, a term grouped eg depression or schizophrenia MedlinePlus. MedlinePlus In language, a set of terms is a partnership. So we created a puzzel, we have to solve. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Makes sense right, if there is a set of terms that need to be resolved, then give the patient and say this term disappears and work on it. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus What does this do? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus What if you told a medical student that his IQ level should achieve the exact level of 145 for it to be accepted into medical school. No 144, or 146, would you say this is a good thing or a bad thing? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The point is, give the patient a very dark set conditions that seems so far from what they really mean it feels wrong to me ... MedlinePlus for example, a depressed teenager can grow and learn that there are a number of interpretations infinate depression. Will this prevent future depression? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Do you think the current DSM is useful? You think unessary puts fear in a gray area of the issues of emotional distress? Maybe you think that's good? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm no expert, but I am a college graduate and I feel that the identification of behaviors, and deal with the reality of the behavior is much more useful to give customers the impossible task of recovering from a set of classification critera which could have an infinate number of interpretations.
