I am currently applying to graduate school to get my master's degree in clinical psychology . One thing they ask for is a two-page essay on how he became interested in psychology and my career goals . I wonder how much effort you want to put into this? I was talking to graduate students in doctorate on him and one of them said he worked on his personal page and a half long personal statement over a month ago . Is that an exaggeration ? They are personal statements are as important or more a formality ?

I think you should put much effort into this. I think personal statements are very important , as it tells the other person who is reading this what you think of yourself .

Write a draft. correct that. Ask someone to review and criticize . Make corrections if necessary . That's it. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus You can take it back a week later and see if there 's something you want to change . You do not have to. Some people actually develop their essays , but admissions people just judge by how well the essay is written and what he says . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Yes , it is important . It is more important if you are applying to a very competitive program or if you need to balance the mediocre grades or test scores . It may also indicate the fit of your program, your character , your skills of reasoning , his eloquence . It might be more of a formality if your grades , test scores and teacher recommendations are tops , but still a poorly written essay can burst an admission of otherwise safe .
