If you are looking at cognitive dissonance could be seen in young offenders have ideas on their own unlawful conduct and the ideas we have about the offensive behavior of others. For example , could focus on a specific crime , such as carrying a knife and investigate whether offenders justify carrying his own knife , and condemn others. This then possibly cover cognitive dissonance and perhaps some aspects of attribution theory also . A typical research question might be: MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Is there inconsistency between explanations for carrying personal knife and the knife in other books on young offenders ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus ( although it could be worded better!) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus However, I'm not entirely sure how to go about accomplishing this . I would ask your tutors Uni if possible for you to carry out their study with young offenders . If you meet them in person will have the chance to request a criminal background check and these can take weeks to make and cost money . Maybe you could compile a questionnaire and request that it be circulated to relevant youth in a young offenders' institute or something? My best advice would be to really ask if you can use young offenders as participants or not before putting too much importance to a study as I could not get the important ethical 'ok '!
