What is a good college in California for me?0NEED HELP URGENT!!!2012-11-05 17:12:02
I'm a senior in high school this year so obviously I'm really cracking down on figuring out where I want to go next year. I've chosen my top schools I want to go to, but I want to pick one more. I live in new jersey, so obviously I'm not very familiar with the CA area. I'm looking for a school with a good psychology program (I want to be a therapist that does not prescribe medication). My GPA is around 3.0 (I'm not sure exactly what it is) and my SAT score is a 1700 (reading: 530, writing:560, and math: 610) but I'm retaking them in October and will hopefully score higher. Preferably around the area of fresno or more southern. I don't care if it's near the coast or not. Please help me find a college that fits this description and I won't have much trouble getting into.[View Answers]

MY ACT was a composite score of 25 with a writing score of 8/12 (Also plan to try again and I got huge books for both the SAT and ACT) Honors Classes I've Taken: Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Pre Calc (If that's an honors class lol) AP Classes I've taken/will take: AP Psychology, AP Physics, AP U.S. History, AP Calc Scores on AP Tests: AP Psychology: 4 I want to major in some type of television program, I've taken our Advanced video productions class for about 5 semesters! Any more info you need let me know! :) Relay for Life (Walked for cancer and volunteered) : 57 hours Silver Beach Elementary (Helped with the kids and ran errands for the teacher) : 8:15 hours Hovander Park ( Helped take pictures for Down syndrome Outreach and helped with their picnic) : 4:40 hours St. Francis Childcare (Helped take the kids on field trips and around the class room) : A little over 50 hours Rotary Interact (A club at school, help around the community once a month) : 5:30 hours and more to come when the school year starts Cornwall Church (Learned how to operate lights and did it for services) : 11 hours and more to come I also filmed a short film for my culminating project about Down syndrome and volunteered about 20 hours for that, filming during his physical therapy and at home, and also my editing time. That connects to my major because in the class we put on a news show almost everyday for the school. I was the director for most of the class and learned a lot! I know how a small show works! I also did junior varsity fast pitch freshman year and am in the mentor program this year that meets with incoming freshman once a month! I also went to a film camp for a week at Western Washington University which I got a full ride scholarship for. The year before I attended UW for a week with a program that I've been with since 7th grade (Gear Up) to learn about college. Gear Up is a program that gears us up for college and will stay with us until we graduate high school. Then we get a 6-10 thousand dollar scholarship to any school![View Answers]

I really need help with the Physical Therapy program. I'm a currently student at LCCC (Lehigh Carbon Community College) and I will be graduating in August Summer of 2012 with my GSA (General Studies Associates Degree) which included all of my Anatomy and Physiology, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Mathematics, Statistics, English all completed, Speech and all of my general courses that are needed for Nursing and also Physical Therapy program. I don't know what to do next. I been searching for many different University: Kutztown, Bloomburg, Cedar Crest, PennState, and Eastrougburg, in Pennslyvnia. However, I still don't know what to do. Should I transfer to any of that school and get my B.A (Bachelor's of Art) first then transfer to Bloomburge for the Pre-Physical Therapy, and then transfer back to PennState for somewhere for Physical Therapy school? Please give me your suggest. I really need help. Thank YOu for everthing. Sincerely Tony Nguyen[View Answers]

Are universities picky about what field you earned your BA in when applying to Physician's Assistant program?0MileyCyrus2012-11-01 21:11:25
I read where someone suggested majoring in a subject of your interest that you will do well in which helps when the comittee looks at your GPA (as long as you have the pre-reqs). But do you think colleges choose science/health related BA holders first over others? I would like to get a BA in Psychology, but if that will hurt instead of helping later, I'd rather go a different route. Thanks![View Answers]
Track for Ivy League Colleges, any advice please?0Laurel hill2012-11-01 19:26:05
Please take time to read. Good luck is thanked, but not super helpful Track for Ivy League Colleges, any advice please? Right now i am a freshman in High school. My GPA consists of a 3.7(weighted) and i'm trying very hard to get them higher. I've thought about my career choices, and i have decided on getting an MD and possibly becoming psychiatrist because of my love of my psychology classes (100% in class). Currently i am in all honors and seminar ( like AP, for freshmen and sophomores) english, sociology, and psychology. This year i am so far, not currently involved in any activities, but i'll see if i can join the newspaper, and track (possibly), and do a few publications for our school book. Next year i plan on taking all seminar english, science, history, math (possibly not), and AP psychology. Along with those ill try out for academic team, cross country (possibly), newspaper, and publish somethings hopefully. I have always been an excellent standardized test taker so hopefully that will come in handy. I was wondering things to do over the summer, i was thinking possibility taking extra classes, and was wondering other programs that might be generally academically helpful?(other than volunteering) As for volunteering would it be beneficial to do it say at a hospital? As for clubs and extra curricular activities would the ones i listed be enough, i ask this because i feel i've missed the boat on a lot of things this year. Sorry for the drawn-out answer, and the possible grammertical errors in a hurry. I am also planning on joining the Spanish NHS, and regular NHS, but they are not offered untill offered Junior year. I have been looking at Pennsylvania Governor’s School for Health care, and was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to get into this? You stay for 5 weeks at a college and take courses. However, I don't feel confident in making it since I cannot even get into the gifted program at my school, but I might give it a shot. If i do i'll apply for these in my Junior year Any experiences with Govener schools? Thank you all for who took the time to read it and try and help me. [View Answers]
Which SUNY schools aren't too selective or competitive?0Juliane2012-11-01 19:06:11
I'm transfering from the college I'm currently in because it's way too expensive and there's not much to do here. My current gpa is a 2.2 but it think it fell some since midterms. I'm proabaly going to have to give them my HS transcript since I'm applying now instead of in my junior year and that will probably help some including my letters, essay, and resume. So yeah which of the SUNY schools are easier to get into and it would be great if you knew if they had both a psychology program and sociology program.[View Answers]
Are my stats too ideal for pursuing a PsyD? What can I do to achieve such a goal?0anonymous12012-10-27 21:16:58
Hello , I am currently a significant increase in the university . I'm in psychology and an English Creative Writing major and a clinical psychologist candidate . I gave a lot of laps in my future and I would go to graduate school for a PsyD . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I took the old GRE today ( July 2011) and received an unfavorable rating . MedlinePlus Q : 650 MedlinePlus V : 430 MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I realize that a person is allowed to take the GREs once a month , no more than 5 times . MedlinePlus The problem is that the GRE became the new GRE revised next month of August 2011. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus This is really a stressful situation in relation to the fact that 1200 is the magic number of graduate programs for PsyD really consider any lower would be unacceptable MedlinePlus . MedlinePlus I have 3 ~ 4 internship experience is a research assistant for a professor of psychology at the campus , an inmate of a nonprofit organization treating depression and anxiety called Freedom From Fear , and will also be held over four months ( from September to December 2011) , in a local school called Headstart for mentally challenged children . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus My GPA is currently a 3.3 and I have the intention to raise it higher during my senior semester . MedlinePlus Would there be any chance for me to be accepted into a graduate program offering PsyD ? MedlinePlus Any advice , thoughts and opinions are welcome . MedlinePlus I have only a few clear options to clear my current complicated situation .[View Answers]
Am I on the right track to UCSD/UCI?0chang2012-10-27 20:54:53
I would love to go to UCSD , but UCI is more likely. MedlinePlus Cumulative 3.5 GPA to date ( a semester off to 10-11 GPA ) . If I get a 4.2 GPA this semester ( I can do ) I will be applying to colleges with an average of 3.85 . I've always been in honors and AP classes . MedlinePlus This year I'm taking AP Calc AB , AP Chem, AP Psychology , Honors Lit , Spanish 2, U.S. History . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus End of course will AP Physics, AP Lit , AP Calc BC , Honors Government / Economics and SPARK ( help incoming students ) . MedlinePlus It has over 200 hours of community service ( plan to make another 200 or so during the summer only ) . Good in computer programming . Want to go to the medical field (cardiologist ) . Participate in Science Club , Middle Eastern Students United , CSF , and next year I have the intention to join more . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Think you have a decent chance to get into UCI or UCSD given the fact if I get a GPA of 3.85 cumulitive 10-11? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Do a lot of volunteer work and extracurricular materials on my own ( math tutor , lots of photography , computer programming / C + + , and I have the intention to do next year swimming as a sport , a lot of paint )[View Answers]
I have a college/ university question? c:?0smith2012-10-27 19:45:49
I am currently a high school student , but I've already been accepted into two Cal State ( CSU ) . However, neither was my first choice , and can not afford to go to any due to huge gap distance , I did not choose bedroom rooming for good and the distance is about an hour and a half drive . I can not change my housing option again, I called the admissions office and everything , and I have thought about majoring in psychology and maybe a minor in anthropology , if the choice is given below . Therefore, it has been recommended by many people I know that for a career in psychology , I have to go to a UC - and I've asked a representative EAOP if this was true , and she said yes , because of the difference in the application and theory. So here's my problem , guys ! MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm not going to any State that Cal accepted me because of the difficulties I have already said , so I plan to go to OCC , but when I can check transfer requirements for UC , this appears : " Highest priority for admission is given to residents of California junior level applicants from California community colleges . Preference will also be given to community college students who have participated in the more advanced courses or programs academically selective . " What does this mean exactly? What are junior level residents applicants , and what is the difference between them and regular students community college courses that have participated in academically selective ? Orange Coast College is different from where applicants are lower ? MedlinePlus Sorry if I seem uniformed , but do not really know the difference , I never thought that I would go to a community college in advance for what I have never chosen to investigate , sorry ! Please help c :[View Answers]

Since graduating with two of four years of study in Spanish and Psychology . I like to go into teaching and wanted to know what kind of certification had to be enrolled in / completed to be a teacher in the state of Colorado . I'm literally no idea this process , so if you could explain this in detail as if I were a kindergardener , that would be helpful :) MedlinePlus I know that public and private schools may be different , but if you can speak in generalities , that would be great . ? I can get a license in a community college ? What ? what programs ? Do I have to go back to school to get a degree in education 4yr ? MedlinePlus Thank you very much ![View Answers]
Should i take Physics?0barbHELP!!!!2012-10-27 16:48:37
I am very confused . I am a young up and I have a little problem . This year I am taking AP Chemistry , AP Environmental , Honors English III , Honors Precal , two electives , honors U.S. History and French III . My last year, apparently , we will not be in a block schedule and despite what can only take six classes . I had planned my schedule and now in disrepair whole thing! Would take French IV online the second half of my first year , Physics I and the summer before my senior year . Then last year, I was going to take AP Biology , AP Psychology , AP Physics II , AP French , Honors English IV , two elective courses (I can not cut these out! ) , And AP Calculus , African American studies online . But now , i canonly take six classes . These are my choices . Option 1 : Take online Physics I summer before senior year , and then take the final year of AP English IV , AP Calculus , honors two elective courses ( it can not cut ! ) , AP Psychology and AP Physics II with online African American studies . MedlinePlus Option 2 : Forget Physics , English IV take online summer before senior year , then last year , take the two electives , AP Calculus , AP French , AP Biology , AP Psychology and African American Studies Online . MedlinePlus But what I really want to take Psychology . But as I will be a research scientist (I'm majoring in some science ! ) , I think physics would be necessary . What do you think ? I do not want to spoil any chance. And I want to get into a university with a great science and music program (which is why you can not cut our band and band that is two electives I'm talking about ) . Which would be better ? MedlinePlus Thanks for your answers! MedlinePlus PD : I'm not cutting AP Calc[View Answers]

Entry level/certification medical jobs while I'm in school?0Alarena2012-10-27 14:45:14
I have sixteen and about to graduate from high school in a month . I'm going to college to double major in Nursing / Psychology and minoring in Fashion Design . I'll probably start with only better because I still have a life, but since I 'm still only sixteen now can not start the nursing program at once , so I want to make a program for a doctor to get a job . Do you know anything to help me get the feel of being in a hospital since I plan to be a nurse . Do you have any idea of something that requires little time studying ? Maybe six months - 1yr 1/2 ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I was thinking : MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Medical Assistant ( But I do not particularly want to work in a hospital) MedlinePlus Phlebotomist ( I can deal with blood and I like to be in the hands ) MedlinePlus Nursing Assistant (I'm not sure how long the training is for this? ) MedlinePlus Pharmacy Technician (Working with recipes ? ) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm still doing research , so that might add to the list or perhaps more details on what I have already sacrificed . You think I'm going to have to be 18 to study these programs ? So far , phlebotomy is the only thing I'm sure about , age requirement is 17 . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus thanks[View Answers]
Pursuing art therapy?0suzzie2012-10-27 14:44:46
I am a college student finishing third for my BA in psychology and social behavior . As the time approaches for me to decide what exactly you want to do with my career , I've been looking into different fields of psychology . I'm particularily interested in the field of art and music therapy ( more technical ) . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I've been looking for , maybe not enough , but I'm having trouble finding out recommended courses I can take to succeed as a student in an accredited graduate school AATA to art therapy . I thought I should take art as a child , but what field of art ? Currently , my school offers degrees in: . Art history , arts and humanities , fine arts and art studio MedlinePlus MedlinePlus What ultimately would like to do is specialize in family, marriage or sex therapy with additional certification in art therapy . I also like to finish teaching. Maybe part-time in a college town or something. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I really appreciate any information anyone can provide me . Thanks in advance[View Answers]
