Psychiatric nursing dissertation topics?0Jordan Smith2012-11-06 04:28:50
I'm going into college but only have one chance to choose my major: I'm stuck between getting a PhD in clinical psychology or advanced psychiatric nursing. I'm basing my decision on whether or not I'd be able to handle a dissertation in each. Is nursing exclusive to a nurse-patient relationship, or nurse-whatever relationships? Or is it possible to focus entirely on research of for example, the effect of mental illness on one's behaviour or vice versa? (should that be saved for a psych dissertation?)[View Answers]

What Major/Minor Will Benefit Me Most?0andro2012-11-06 04:15:17
I'm currently finishing my bachelors degree that I started in 2000. My degree was heading to sociology (which I excelled in), but now my life has changed. I will be applying to med school in a year and plan to be a pediatrician (I'm realizing my life's dream!). As an adult learner who doesn't have the time or money to screw around I need some advice on my major. I believe MD candidates need to be well rounded in today's society, especially when dealing with children, so I am debating between two combinations: Psychology Major with Biology Minor OR Sociology Major with Biology Minor It is plainly between these two, I'm not looking at other options. I think psychology is always a good addition with a MD degree but, it's also so important to understand family and communal issues to help children as well. Any serious help ideas? THANKS![View Answers]
College Majors: Popular vs. Practical?0Mittens2012-11-06 04:13:32
To start out I am attending college myself and aspire to graduate some day. That being said, I attended a couple college graduations last year (1 specifically at the University of Minnesota) I noticed a trend, per se, that shocked me, and at the same time didn't. I sat through the names of at least 1,000 graduates, at this one particular ceremony out of several held by the liberal arts school that spring, and noticed something odd. What I found odd is that at least 80-90% of the degrees that these graduates were getting were the same. Out of the 20+ or so degrees that you could choose from at the liberal arts college of the U of M, the vast majority chose a communications/strategic communications degree. Out of all the departments, which have various degrees within each, such as Anthropology, Economics, Gender, Women, &Sexuality Studies, Geography, Global Studies, Journalism &Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, most chose to major in communications. Every now and then there would be something really specific like women's studies or something else, or someone that double majored in communications and a world language, but all in all there was little diversity over the entire graduating class. Is this a trend or does this happen everywhere? I chose to study a very specific major (I/TT; computer science) and have noticed the same thing (several people studying the same major) when I enrolled. What is the intrigue of getting one of the slightly vague "McMajors" like communications. Why would somebody spend 4+ years in college to get a piece of paper that says they know how to speak and communicate?[View Answers]
Boston University Online Master's Degree Info Needed.?0Looking for someone to check my answer2012-11-06 04:12:55
I have a Bachelor's Degree from Excelsior College, which is a non-competitive college in up-state New York. My Degree is in Liberal Science, and most of my courses are in Criminal Justice and Psychology. My GPA is a 3.29, and I have also been in the Coast Guard for 7 years. How difficult would it be for me to get into the online Master's Degree program for Criminal Justice at Boston University? I know BU is a top school, and I am concerned about the school I received my Bachelor's Degree at not being up to par. I think my Coast Guard experience will help, but I am unsure. Any insight would be great. Thank you.[View Answers]
Trying to decide on a Master's program? how do I determine which is more suitable for me?0COLLINS2012-11-06 04:11:43
I'm thinking about getting my master's degree. But I can't decide on which program would be best. I will be getting my BA in English and a BS in Family &Consumer Science very soon. I will also have secondary teaching certification. I'm interested in any of these programs: School Psychology, School Counseling or Educational Administration. They all appeal to me in their own way, but I can't decide which I would be best at. Is there a way to determine this? Some sort of test I can take? Before anyone suggests it, salary-wise, principals average $74,230 - school counselors average $51,690 - and school psychologists average $68,150. But I'm not in it for the money... but what I will enjoy doing most for the rest of my life. It's a huge decision and I don't want to pick something that I will regret! Any help or suggestions is appreciated![View Answers]
AAARRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! can you help me out here ?0Krissy:)2012-11-06 03:58:38
I am so confused, I dont know what to do. DH and I have both decided to go back to college to do an access course and we want to go to uni next year too. We have two children so for obvious reasons we want to go to unis that are enar each other or maybe even the same one if we both got in. This is where the problem starts for me. I started the access course hoping to go onto do midwifery, but there are so many others wanting to do that too which puts me off a little. Then we were told that we might have a good chance of getting into Cambridge, they are crying out for people who were on an access course and being parents helps us to get into uni even more (something to do with equal opportunities, they need to be seen as taking on a certain no of parent students). Well Cambridge dont do midwifery, there is a uni nearby who does, but I dont know much about their credibility. I dont know if I should just hope to get in there or try and get in at Cambridge on a psychology course (SPS). Could I apply to do both courses and hope to get onto one of them? Would doing that put the unis off giving me a place on their course? (they might think if I really want to do psychology at one uni, why am I wanting to do midwifery at another, how serious am I about it!?) What should I do? I really need some guidance right now but I dont know where to turn for it.[View Answers]

Will my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from a University in New York allow me to do a Masters in Spain?0Dunca2012-11-06 03:44:48
I have my bachelor's degree in both psychology and Spanish from St. Lawrence University. I have spent the majority of the past two years in Spain, and am going back this coming year to work. I would like to pursue my master's in Psychology there, but am unsure as to wether all or only some (or none) of my credits would transfer allowing me to do this. I know once I get there I have to go to the Ministry of Education for the homologation process, but does anyone know anything?[View Answers]

Would I Be Accepted Onto A Degree In Advertising ?0Tang Love Ya 2012-11-06 03:40:33
I have just been accepted into University to study an Access to Higher Education course starting this October finishing in May 2012. I will be studying the following 4 Units as chosen by myself and one of the course leaders: Psychology Sociology Education Studies English The other available units to choose were Politics and History which obviously wouldnt fit in with what I want to do. What I am wondering is, in your opinion, do you think I would be accepted into University to study a BSc Advertising based on Merits or Distinctions in the above subjects, and also the following GCSE's that I gained when i left school 6 years ago: gcse english grade B gcse maths grade E (currently studying to get a C grade) gcse media studies C gcse travel D gcse art B gcse religious studies grade C Im thinking the media and art gcse's will look good, and also if i get merits and distinctions in the other subjects, which i know i can do. Only im worried cos the units i listed above arent exactly anything to do with advertising are they?? So im not sure if they would accept me?? Maybe I should have studied english and art at A Level :( silly me... Any help would be much apprciated, just want to make sure i am making the right decisions for this year when i start! Thanks :)[View Answers]
What course should I take? Anatomy or Greek History? or both?0orangutan2012-11-06 03:22:10
Hello. I am taking two university courses toward my agree this term - Greek History and Basic Human Anatomy. I did have 5 classes (Children's Literature, Psychology, Later Roman Empire, Basic Human Anatomy, and Greek History), but now I just have two because I messed up registering by the deadling (I thought it was at midnight on the computer but it was actually at 8 pm). Well now that I'm on my way with these two courses I'm not sure if I can even handle both--Anatomy is so much work memorizing but I prefer studying it over Greek History. I don't really want to take both but I probably should. I'd rather score high in one course this term and take on more to make up for it next term. I think I can score my highest in Anatomy but I should take Greek History because it is required for my program in Classics, but I could take it later. :S This is my 6th year of university. Any suggestions?[View Answers]

Too many areas of study!?0Lima2012-11-06 03:11:08
Hi, I am 15 years old and just graduated from high school early and am going to start attending a community college, and then a 4 year university, but one of my problems is there is so much stuff that I want to study but I don't want to be in college for 20+ years. Here is the list of all the stuff I am interested in learning and possibly getting a degree in. Political Science Social Science Psychology Philosophy History Geography Anthropology Religion Is there any way I can quadruple major any of these (at the university)? Or do I have to get each degree one by one? I know it's alot but I really am interested in all of this stuff, and would like the bonus of having a degree in it (Bachelors or Masters). So would anyone have any solutions? Should I drop any of them or double, triple, or quadruple major? Are any of them useless or very similar to another? I don't care about having a job in the fields, I just want to learn the stuff.[View Answers]

How do I become a Physician's Assistant straight out of undergraduates school?0Geoff2012-11-06 02:48:18
I am currently a junior in high school and plan on attending a 4-year university or liberal arts college to attain an undergraduates degree (possibly in Psychology). Afterwords, I want to enter into a Physician Assistants' graduates degree program. I understand that a bachelors degree, certain course prerequisites, and health care related experience are all required for admission into any program, but, my question is: Since the application deadlines are in the fall, can I apply while I am a senior in college, even through I won't technically have a degree yet? Or do I have to wait and take a gap year? Also, would being a waitress at an assisted living facility (with elderly residents) count as "Related Health Experience"? And would becoming an EMT through a local training course and volunteering over my summer breaks while an undergraduate be a sufficient amount of "Patient Care Experience"? I would really rather not be forced to start a separate career between my undergraduate schooling and the PA program, if possible I would like to streamline my schooling.[View Answers]
