Further study and other commitments?0Christy2012-11-05 22:37:57
I’m a second year Psychology student. I am studying hard and aiming for a 2:1! I have been to a careers fair and I'm not particularly interested in any of the work available for me after my degree. They seem to be less linked to Psychology and as I really enjoy the subject I am considering taking a masters in the subject in order for me to get on to a PhD course to become a professional. I know I will have no problem with going where I want to be. Although it's going to take a lot of effort! But I am worried that I will be missing out on getting married and having children. I really want to have children quite young. Around 26-27 age and I am worried I will have to decide between my career and having children/family life. Do people these days have to choose or can both be realistically done the same time!?[View Answers]
I'm looking for a good backup school for biology or psychology?0disk_ck2012-11-05 22:30:44
So, I’ve been doing some research, but I’m finding a hard time narrowing down my choices of colleges. I have my reach and "maybe" schools already figured out, I just need some recommendations on some good backup schools. Obviously, I’m not trying to get into the Ivy League schools, but a small liberal arts school that either has a decent program for neuroscience, biology or psychology is preferable… although considering where I’m at, almost anything is fine… My gpa is.. unfortunately.. a 3.5 My ACT is ... sadly… 24, (although its late, I may retake this again, since my scores have been going by up hundreds (for SAT at least) each time I take it..) My class rank is also unfortunate.. Weighted, I’m in about the 37% percentile. But I have hundreds of hours for community service, and I’ve been in at least 3 or 4 clubs since my freshman year. I helped start a two clubs (including writing the constitution), which I am now VP for. I have only been taking IB classes for the last two years, so I’ll be graduating with a total of 11 IB classes, and several (at least 6) running start classes. (Considering that my school only offers IB and running start after sophomore year, this is somewhat all over the place. Hopefully, though, it might be seen as a good thing..?) I currently live in Washington (so, definitely applying to UW) but I’m open to any colleges out there for now. Thank you! p.s. I know its late, but hopefully someone will help me..[View Answers]

Should I get a BS in Psychology or a BA in Psychology?0Amina2012-11-05 22:25:44
I want to be a social worker but that degree is not offered at my University. The difference between the BS and BA at my school is that in a BS you will minor in a science and a BA in an art. I would like to minor in a language but I hear BA's are not as lucrative as BS's. I know I will probably need a master's eventually as well. So what do you think?[View Answers]
Australian Secret Intelligence Service, Bachelor Degree's.. Please help me Thank You..?0Shiva2012-11-05 22:23:06
Does the Australian Secret Intelligence Service like any of these Bachelor Degrees: Bachelor of Social Science (Criminal Justice) (Navitas College of Public Safety) Bachelor of Psychology Are those degrees accepted, if not what sort of degrees are the after in people that are applying. Is it an advantage to your application if you already know another language other than English. Thank You For Your Help.[View Answers]

Should I seek a master's degree in urban planning?0Bonn2012-11-05 21:59:26
I have a BA in psychology and am currently floating around universities experimenting with different fields (because I have no idea what i want to do). Portland State university offers a great program in urban planning and I was thinking of taking some urban planning courses there to get an idea of what the field is like. Could I get into an urban planning MA program with a BA in psych? What do urban planners do exactly? I know I dont want to be stuck in an office crunching numbers on a computer all day. I am not particularly educated or interested in things like economics but I think I would like the idea of working with spacial coordination, and I believe thats what urban planners might do. I still dont understand what urban planners do because all of my research leaves it to be very broad. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has experience in the field.[View Answers]
General questions: graduate school for Business for a Psychology undergraduate?0roscoe2012-11-05 21:44:18
I am going to be a junior soon. I will be completing my B.A. in psychology. I have no interest in a graduate career in psychology...when I started school I thought I did, but my passion for psyc has been waning. I'm interested in business now for graduate school in COMBINATION with psychology (Ethnographer/Human Resources/Consumer psychology etc). What is something I can look into that offers good salary (70K+/year)? What classes I should take? Anything! I come from a very poor family so I don't have the 'do what you love' mentality (or else I would be in the fine arts). I have a 3.6 GPA and research experience in psyc and some volunteer experience.[View Answers]
How do I obtain a second bachelor's degree?0Com 1552012-11-05 21:37:56
I am about to complete a bachelor's degree in psychology and had planned on attending grad school to obtain a masters in counseling. But now I'm not so sure with the job market the way it is. I had originally considered physical therapy and it seems that it is a highly available job almost anywhere. So, if I do decide to get another bachelor's degree for physical therapy, do I have to complete all of the core classes (math, science, english, etc.) again that I will already have completed with my current degree? In almost any bachelor's program most of the first two years are basic core classes. Is it possible that the ones I have already completed could be "counted" towards my 2nd bachelor's?[View Answers]
Questions about Forensic's Degree and my Career.?0nishi2012-11-05 21:31:50
Hey, I just finished community college with a A.A.S in Hospitality Management. I'm currently working in the Hospitality Field at a professional sports venue in New York. I've worked in Hospitality for 2-3 years now. I'm a hard worker and don't complain and I do deal with stress and sometimes question why I ever go into the field. I got into to work mainly in Sports and Event Operations, because I like putting things together and making people happy. But all my other fellow students in my classes are just not self-motivated and smoke cigarettes, and just look trashy. I've gained a lot of interest in the field of Forensics Study and I'm thinking of taking a semester off as well. I'm looking into the idea of studying Forensic's for one semester at a state university college. Just to see if I like it. I love problem solving and working alone. I am a Scorpio and research show they tend to enjoy careers in Detective, Lawyer, and FBI Agent paths. I'm 19 years old and live in the NYC area. Science and Math are my favorite subjects, and I've been a A students in those subjects. I got a 98 in my Chemistry class, I never found it difficult but yet everyone else did. I'd like to know: Forensics Career Opportunities Transition to different Major (Would I get accepted into Forensic Programs) Good Colleges for Forensics Study's Personal Advice Forensics Science or Psychology difference? And What Forensics careers are really like? As well as any other helpful advice[View Answers]
Taking courses at a second University.?0Denis2012-11-05 21:27:12
I am enrolled in a BA in Psychology program. I want to be an addiction therapist and my University does not have the substance abuse classes I need. Can I enroll in these courses at another University, which has all six courses, at the same time I am earning my degree? If so, will financial aid cover both schools?[View Answers]

I'm a mom of two trying to get a college degree to get a job. My current major is behavioral science and psychology but I'm changing my mind because there is not much I can do with a bachelor in this field I will need a master at least. I'm considering going for communications, teaching or nursing (not sure about the blood but I was told you get used to it) any advice on which choice might be best as far as stability, income and job opportunities. Should I add a class in?0nas2012-11-05 21:02:23
My dad keeps bothering me to add in a class. I don't want to because I believe I'm set, plus I'm already taking 2 hard classes. He keeps saying "oh I'm not going to pay for your tuition if you have to take classes in the summer" and he believes I'm going to drop chem (he did not say so, but it's so obvious). Sorry about the rant lol I'm already overwhelmed and it's my first week... Here's my courses: I'm taking 14 credits this semester, and I'm thinking about adding a seminar the next semester which counts as 1 credit, so that's 29 credits in total Freshman year. I want to start off slow because I did not try my hardest in high school, so I want to find my strong and weak points. I'm taking General Chemistry 4 credits General Psychology 3 credits A Writing Class 3 credits (every freshman has to take this, and it's very hard apparently) PreCalc College Math (I've already taken Precalc, but apparently this is very hard as well, and has a high failure rate. Though I might be switching) I'm also adding in a tutoring program that'll tutor me in Chemistry and Precalc. It doesn't have any credits, but it adds classes on to my schedule. Is this enough? Should I really add a class on here?[View Answers]

Question about going to college?0Dianara2012-11-05 20:45:58
I have been thinking about going back to school, I never went right after I graduated HS and then I had a baby, I am not even sure where to start. I am only 20, but I already feel like I am not headed in a direction I want to be career-wise. I really want to go into psychology, but I am not sure what area to go into. I think I either want to do adolescent psychology or maybe even sex psychology (I am not sure the actual name of it). My goal in life is to try and help people be comfortable with who they are. How long can I expect that a degree will take me? Do you know what the average income of these professions are in the US? [View Answers]
