Can this be possible?0manuel2012-11-05 20:26:05
With a lot of college degrees, many majors require the same classes. If you were to major in Psychology and to take an extra class that requires to sociology; will you graduate with both degrees or just one.[View Answers]

Applied Psychology Major?0mhhw2012-11-05 20:20:46
Im a psychology major (3rd yr but a yr behind had to take a semester off for personal reasons) who wants to get a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology to become a psychologist. The thing is I don't want to go back to school right away. I want to get a job with B.A in psychology. What type of jobs are there for this major, and the pay? I reside in illinois. Is it worth it to find a job for a one or two years to gain experience and have more to put in a grad school application. Or should i just apply to grad school right after I get my degree? Also any tips on how to get accepted to grad school?[View Answers]
Masters or Bachelor's?0Bich-Thu2012-11-05 20:06:57
I have a degree in education but I guess Teaching is not my thing, I've always wanted Psychology, but at the time (back where I'm from) it was really hard and expensive to get into Psychology. Now, I'm in the States and wanted to get a Masters degree in Psychology, so I took the GRE test and failed because I really, really suck at Math and my English is good but, WOW the English in those tests looks like made up English. So, I don't know what to do, because I really want to go to school. Do you think it would be worth it tho go back to school and get another Bachelors degree or should I just keep on trying on taking the GRE test to go for my Masters..???[View Answers]
Should I go back to school for a BA or trade school?0tannu2012-11-05 20:03:07
I'm 30M, I make 12,000/yr at walmart and my goal is a steady 35 to 45k a year. I'm too old for the 'college experience' and just want to make a decent salary to save up for a home within the next few years. Would a BA in Econ or Psychology help more or a technical degree. Both would take me about the same couple years (I already have my General ed stuff done at at a community college 7 years ago). I prefer something a little better than a tech at the same Walmart if that is your suggestion also.[View Answers]
Does what math class I take matter to graduate schools?0hehehehehehehe2012-11-05 19:56:26
I'm a psychology major and in the future I plan on attending an out of state, prestigious university. I know it won't be easy, but I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to make it to schools such as Stanford, Yale, University of Central Washington, NYU, Boston University or Emory.I want to study either clinical psychology or experimental. I need to take a math class next semester and my adviser suggested Finite Math. However, the finite math teacher is super incompetent so I'm thinking of taking a more advanced math, either College Algebra or Trig. So my question is, do grad schools consider psych students more competitive if they take a higher level math? If me and a student have the same credentials, grade wise and research wise, can it come down to which student took the stronger math course?? Does my math class really matter that much? Thanks![View Answers]

What can I do w/ a Masters in Education?0I am so (h) 2012-11-05 19:50:29
I'm currently a stay at home mom, but I work part time at my son's preschool. Once he starts school full-time I'm going to get my teaching certificate (for grades EC-4) and Masters in Education (I have an undergrad in marketing). I plan on teaching elementary school for a few years so my son and I can have the same schedule, but eventually I'd like to move out of the classroom. I'd really like to do something like curriculum design or even get my PhD and teach at the college level, but none of the local universities currently offer a PhD program like that...only one designed for superindendents. I'm really interested in child psychology and how children learn, but I'm not especially interested in trying to become a psychologist. Does anyone else had a M.ed? Does this sound like I'm on the right path for what I want to do? What are you doing with your degree? Thanks for any input![View Answers]

What kind of colleges can I get into?0Deanna Coney2012-11-05 19:19:40
I'm have a GPA of about 97. My SAT scores so far have been about 2200, but I plan to take them once more this fall. I have taken many AP courses: chemistry, biology, lang&lit, psychology, calculus BC...and I'm taking AP statistics, microeconomics, psychics, english, and gov/pol next year. I have also taken many honors level courses such as honors biology, chemistry, algebra 2, precalc, english 1, english 2, american history, world history. I have taken AP tests for chemistry, biology, calculus, and english. I took SAT subject tests for chemistry, biology, and math 2. I'm a varsity cross country and track athlete for my school; I also dance outside of school and partake in many competitions. I am the secretary of my school's PUSH club; we mentor local elementary school kids and help them resist drugs. I am also a member of Heroes&Cool Kids, the OPED editor of the school newspaper. Outside of school, i volunteer regularly at the hospital, working with children as well as within the hospital itself. I am also part of a teen leadership group at my soup kitchen each summer: we raise money through fund raising for the kitchen. Each summer, I organize a charity community block party to raise money for the ASHA foundation, which provides education for less fortunate children in India.Altogether, I have raised about $4000 so far. I also run 5K and 10K charity races for this organization. In the summers, I travel to India to work alongside doctors as they travel through poor villages and provide free medical services where hospitals are scarce and expensive. I would really like to get into an Ivy League college, but I am not sure if I will be accepted. Is there anything else I can do to get into an Ivy League college? Thanks so much![View Answers]

I'm looking to get a doctorate in psychology, and..?0Econo_Help2012-11-05 19:06:31
I am a little confused on the organization of graduate schools. I was planning on going to Eastern Washington University, and I found they have a Master's program called "Psychology: Clinical Emphasis", which is perfect for what I want to do. In the description, it says "Designed for students...pursing pre-doctoral studies preparing for application to doctoral programs in clinical or counseling psychology." So, I began planning on probably getting this master's degree at EWU, and then transferring to make University of Washington or another school where I could receive a PhD for eventually practicing clinical psychology, hopefully someday at a private practice. I am a high school senior, and I know I will check all this info with a guidance counselor soon and do better research than Yahoo answers. But does my plan sound accurate for what I want to do? I guess I am just kind of shaky on the idea of transferring in between my master's and my doctorate... I just want to make sure this is possible and advisable, to transfer like that. Does anyone have any advice they could give? It would be extremely appreciated.[View Answers]
Psychology or teaching major?0Deric2012-11-05 19:02:52
I'm in my second year of college and I'm currently a education major. But I've been thinking I want to get a major in Psychology, I am interested in getting a career in either Child Psychology or working with people with depression, anxiety, agoraphobia type things. But I also already am a education major and do like teaching. I also love children and I'm not sure if I want to do all that schooling (plus even more from switching majors) and im not sure if id be able to find a job in psych. Most likely I will be getting a Masters in either degree but ive heard you usually need a phd for a good psych job....any suggestions on what career I could be that would fit everything I nee/want. But I have always had a thing for helping people, and enjoy it a lot[View Answers]
Exactly what degree do I need for a school counselor or school psychologist?0maycee2012-11-05 18:52:58
I am in my last year from graduating with my masters in counseling, and I have my undergraduate in psychology. I really think I want to choose the path of either becoming a school counselor or school psychologists. In my state I have all the requirements to become a licensed school counselor or school psychologists at the masters level, but these 2 things... (1) Completion of an advanced program approved by the State Board of Education for the preparation of school counselors (2) Certification: K-12 Can anyone tell me after graduating with a masters in counseling how to get those 2 things?? Do I need a second degree, Ed.S? What is an Ed.S?[View Answers]
