Do neuroplasticity programs really work?0Jasmyne Chan2012-11-03 05:54:13
When you read books and articles about psychology sometimes they act like "neuroplasticity" is the latest break through in the field. And there are so many programs that claim to "help your neurons connect better." I know that every time you learn something new it apparently forms new and stronger neuron connections. But some programs, probably all profited motivated, act like they've got the best program out there to help you think and operate. Are there any programs out there that people have really found effective? Especially for children with learning problems? Or programs to help with memory? Or is what your born with what you're stuck with?[View Answers]

What should I do when I grow up?08k2012-10-27 05:11:24
I have 14 years and recently took the ACT (24 Math , 27 Reading , Writing 28, 30 Science ) and I took the SAT at the beginning of the 7th grade (610 Writing, Reading 600, Math 640 ) . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am very involved with each topic and am taking as many AP classes as possible . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am very passionate about science , but I do not want to go " I Wanna Be A WORLDWIDE MEDICAL AND LOVE " route. What specific field should I enter? Researchers or the operating table ? Oh , and I feel lightheaded and have trouble with memorization (hence my grades are suffering somewhat ... ) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am very interested in psychology and neuroscience , but I'm not sure if this would be a viable route . I do not want to be just a talk therapist . I also would love to get an MD ( and also get my doctorate ) , so I would prefer a route academic medical route .[View Answers]

Dark ideas for environmental science senior project.?0life-line2012-10-22 09:43:22
I'm a major in enviro science in college , and one of the stipulations of graduation is a senior project . Most people will study two different animals in the same tree , or creating recycling systems elsewhere, or something else that is quite boring for the inexperienced viewer . I'd like to do something different somehow . I have a love for urban exploration and an interest ( healthy ) weird things like ghosts and different belief systems ( cultist things ) and the environment in which it is grown. I have the option to do a dual with a psychology project . I would like to build a project that is interesting for people who could not care less about the environmental time bomb we are sitting . I need ideas. Hit me .[View Answers]
How hard would it be for someone to switch to science if they have no past experience with the subject?1Sharon2012-10-21 02:09:04

What steps I have to take ( based on my story below) to accomplish this? ? I can still get a degree in psychology and ( while still meeting the basic science / pre-med courses ) enter a science graduate program ?[View Answers]

Do you think cognitive science is a solid field for my science project?1muz2012-10-13 17:01:02
I am very interested in neuroscience , psychology , etc. so naturally I like to do my annual science project in these areas . I am in the 7th grade by the way. I'm competing in the fair has two sections, one for juniors ( 5 to 8 ) and another for seniors ( 9-12 ) . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The fair is organized materials - mammalogy , Chemistry , etc. Most of the issues are for the levels of both juniors and seniors , but cognitive science is only for Juniors MedlinePlus . MedlinePlus I know that cognitive science is a growing field right now, but is more related to psychology . More to the theory in the experiment , I think. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus My brother , who has spent at the state level twice, says I should reconsider doing in Cognitive Science . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Alternative fields that interest me are Chemistry ( I recently got a chemistry set and I love it ) and Biology . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus What do you think ? Last year could not compete in this field and who had knowledge of the week of the fair , even though I was selected to go . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus This is the kind of project you have in mind first : http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/Current/Projects ... MedlinePlus MedlinePlus But the chemistry is another area that I find very interesting . This is a project that involves both neuroscience and biochemistry : MedlinePlus http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/Current/Projects ... MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Or maybe something with genetics ? I recently read a book on the subject , and MedlinePlus quite interesting to me . How can I find out if a career in biology is right for me?2Sanca2012-10-10 23:22:04
I'm struggling with my current career in education and am interested in doing something more technical , hands and shake a lot of people . Biology I loved as a child and had no intention of becoming a doctor , but now , with a degree in psychology and a master's degree in early childhood and special education , I feel unfulfilled. I've been looking at a number of races and they are all in the medical - health area . I'd do anything in biology ( except teaching ) but I do not know if I can take another two years or more in school . Career tests I've taken really do not suggest anything remotely interesting . Can anyone give me a list of possible careers that I can study biology are related ( but not teach or be a doctor or a nurse ) ? Or maybe you are working in the field and enjoy what you do and can pass some information along ? Thank you for your serious answers .[View Answers]

How long can I expect it to take to get a doctoral degree in Cognitive Neuroscience ?1Hilga2012-10-04 10:00:04
Now I have a bachelor of science in psychology . I am also currently enrolled in a teacher education degree program starting in the fall of '12 . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus While I can get my masters degree psych educ 'm also considering taking classes that will allow me to get a second degree in neuroscience . According to what I read , it is necessary to apply to graduate programs in neuroscience . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The highest math and science that have taken so far is Chemistry 101 and advanced algebra . As a result , I have work to do to catch up in math and science , but in the end , I'm hoping to get an estimate from someone who is knowledgeable about what it takes to earn a degree in Neuroscience (How Long ?) . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Also, I wonder if the computer is usually taught beside / besides neuroscience programs in neuroscience ?[View Answers]
Is a major in Psychology (BSc) a good choice in becoming a CSI?1sylvana2012-10-03 21:03:04
Hello , MedlinePlus Well ... I am currently a freshman at McGill and I first wanted to major in biology or chemistry . In high school , I knew the physics required as part of the first year , but after coming here , I fell over the medium term , because they really know the physical .. ( totally not as good) . So, I was thinking about teachers doings in forensics somewhere in California , but before that I have a degree yet and I was thinking of doing a major in psychology and microbiology and immunology . I really I have no choice other great about the fact that I dropped physics freshmen. I've looked at the sites and say that commanders of criminology , chemistry , biology are best, but there is criminology ( in sociology ) and chemistry and biology are crossed . So I just wanted to get some help on whether I should do it in psychology or in microbiology and immunology . You also have the option of both minor and chemistry. After my degree , I have to go and do my masters in forensic science, but I was thinking that if I needed some basic information on the biology and some things so I was wondering what my " best " should be main ( although not really matter) , I still want to make the most of the largest , although physics is reduced my choices to a few ... MedlinePlus Thanks in advance ![View Answers]
