What is the extraneous variable?1Really needs help2016-07-13 23:33:27
Dr. Smith wants to test if her new drug can reduce the symptoms of depression. She uses two outpatient treatment facilities to test her theory. First, Dr. Smith gives depression tests to all the clients of treatment facility # 1 and treatment facility #2. Then she prescribes her medication for all of the clients receiving psychotherapy at facility #1. For the clients receiving psychotherapy at facility #2, Dr. Smith prescribes a placebo. In six weeks, Dr. Smith gives all participants another depression test to see which group scores have changed. What is one possible extraneous variable? Dependent variable?[View Answers]
Are you supposed to take regular psychology before AP psychology?1sal2016-07-13 23:33:18
I am considering taking AP psychology online because my school doesn't offer any type of psychology class, and it is something I'm very interested in. Should I take it online, and are you supposed to take a regular psych class first?[View Answers]

Who can help me develop a good critical review question for my psychology assignment?1alejandro macias2016-07-13 23:32:40
I have a critical review essay due within the next 3 or 4 months but first I need to develop an essay question and find an appropriate topic area in psychology to critically evaluate! I choose the area of cognitive psychology and i am quite interested in the 'psychology of religion'. but i just have no idea where to run with the idea! I was thinking along the lines of looking at what factors influence our religious orientation, whether it is mainly due to biological and personality factors, or whether it is mainly due to sociocultural factors? Does anyone have any feedback as to whether this sounds like an ok idea, or can you give me any further tips or advice on what would enhance this idea, or suggest a completely different idea all together?? Any help or advice would be SO appreciated!! Thanks From a stressed out psychology student![View Answers]
Psychological research areas ?1Mohammad2016-07-13 23:32:20
I have to write paper about the psychology and misconceptions about it.. and it says " Describe at least five research areas in psychology." as easy as it may sound, but am struggling to understand it :S... what does it means by "research areas"? should i write 5 specialties and what do they do, like, experimental psychologists , Industrial psychologists, psychometric psychologists, developmental psychologists, and educational psychologists (and ofc, describe them) or should i describe something like Group Behavior, Prejudice and Discrimination, Prosocial Behavior, Violence and Aggression and Social cognition ? am really confused, >< any help would be appreciated guys, thanks[View Answers]
Can I legally act as a counselor in California even though I have no psychology license?1Jaco2016-07-13 23:32:15
I want to start working as the equivalent of a therapist -- helping people with their typical domestic neuroses such as marriage, family, parenting, loneliness, etc. I don't have and don't have plans to get a psychology degree, nor do I want to be an MFCC or social worker. I just want to start. I have always helped people well in friendships and family life, and I intend to screen clients so that I am only working with people who are a good match. I was raised in a psychologist family, have gone to a lot of therapy, and feel like I know enough to get started. I might learn more if I attended a program, but I don't have the time, money, or energy. Can I simply charge a fee for therapy or counseling, or do I run afoul of legal difficulties? Please note this question is not intended to get your opinion of the likelihood that I will do well at the job, but rather what the legal and professional limitations are. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.[View Answers]

I have enough money to get me through four years of college, i.e. enough to earn my bachelors degree, but i need money to pay for four extra years, so i was wondering if there was any jobs out there that i could get with a bachelors so that i could pay the rest of my way through school.[View Answers]
I think I'm depressed?1wow2016-07-13 23:31:34
Okay, so I'm a fourteen year old female and I think you know my problem. I have already looked up all of the symptoms of depression in teens, and more than half/about half of the symptoms describe me. I am also having negative outlooks on life almost all the time, and I usually talk about how I don't want to live anymore (NOT suicidal, and don't plan on harming myself, and never did). But I need to find a way, and the words to suggest to my parents to bring me to a... doctor that deals with that kind of problem. I don't want them to think I am doing this just to get attention, and I want them to take me seriously, because they usually don't. Please help?[View Answers]

Does this mean that I'm not depressed?1tanijah2016-07-13 23:31:05
Lately I've been feeling a lot of symptoms of depression...I cry a lot, I feel hopeless and unhappy, I feel bad about myself, I have trouble eating sometimes, have been exhausted all the time, trouble focusing, the works. But, when I'm with my close friends, I feel pretty good at least emotionally; the physical symptoms are still there frequently, but I talk and laugh and I feel like myself. Does this mean that my depression isn't actually depression? Or is that normal? (I'm not actually diagnosed with depression, I've just been feeling it over the past months). Thanks[View Answers]

How much would I REALLY make with a Masters in Psychology?1I am not joe2016-07-13 23:22:42
I ultimately would like to practice, but I understand most states only issue that to doctorates. How much less would I be making with a masters instead of a phd? I know there is wide range, but I live in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and I just need some guidance and clearer answers. I am willing to move to other states for a better salary. I just don't want to live paycheck to paycheck and to earn a comfortable living. Thanks for any info.[View Answers]
