What should I call my non-profit organization?1Are anna2012-10-25 17:52:00
I'm thinking about starting a nonprofit organization sometime this year. I'm getting my degree in psychology at the end of this semester and my dream is to create a foundation for those suffering from stress disorder post- traumatic. I have discovered some of the details but I'm lost in a good name for him . I know you would like the motto is " Only we fall, Together we can cure" , but I'm not sure what the name of the organization . I was thinking something like " survivors States " , but then I thought someone might get confused with the American Cancer Society . What if I were to have " Trauma Survivors States" or " One day at a time" or " PTSD survivors States." something . I am very open to suggestions ! MedlinePlus Also, I want to start the creation of a website with frequently asked questions ( such as data on PTSD ) , a little about me section ( I was diagnosed with PTSD 3 years ago , but have made great progress in healing , so I think it would help people know someone who really knows what they are feeling and going ) , a blog , and above all , a chat room for people to go to (which would momnitoring at certain times of day) and have a sort of online group therapy . If anyone has any ideas on web servers that support these needs or a website where I can get the code ( copy and paste into the design of my website to appear when someone visits the site ) to the chat rooms and paypal ( for collect donations to give foundations related to PTSD ) , and other things . any suggestions that you think would help me very much appreciated! MedlinePlus and please keep any bad or insulting comments to yourself . this is my dream and my passion and I am very committed to this.[View Answers]

Minimum wage jobs in mental health?2purple012012-10-24 13:41:51
I am a junior in college , majoring in psychology and work a minimum wage job in retail , which I hate . i really want a job in mental health - how to help people with depression or autistic children . I quit my current job and find a job like that . However, I volunteer as a suicide hotline , so I need the job to be gainfully employed , not only volunteer work ( much as I love volunteer work , though) . Are there jobs that pay mental health and it would take someone my age ? I have not yet my psychology degree ... I am a junior pursuing a degree in psychology though. I'm tired of retail jobs where i scream all day by administrators. i really want a job where people are friendly and like to help people , and where I can help people too. I want a job that makes me happy , if that's possible . I love volunteering at the suicide hotline - something like that, but only pays well. not have to be much , I keep the minimum wage. do jobs like that exist and how I can find them? thank you![View Answers]
How can I be noticed in the Human Service field without the work experience?2Ebone2012-10-09 04:12:02
Hi, I'm fairly new to the Tampa Fl, area. I've lived here for almost six months and I am looking for an opportunity to start a career as a child / family counselor at a nonprofit organization. While I have the much needed experience that many organizations require, I have the dedication, passion and drive to make a difference in the lives of others. I have also education, a 4yr degree in Education / Psychology, as well as my own life experiences to support me. MedlinePlus I'm well aware of that prior experience is an important factor when it comes to social worker positions because there will never be a day of repetitive procedure, each case is different and so are the needs of each individual. I am willing to learn all hands on if given a chance. I firmly believe that when a person has a passion to do something, the individual achieve whatever he / she intends to do and will do an amazing job on it, with or without experience. There is a difference between a job and a passion, and it shows through the work. The real rewards of a career in the field of human services is being able to help others who need help and guidance. By helping these people excel not only are we starting a new cycle of progress, but we are also giving our communities, and this is exactly what I want to be part of it. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The problem seems to be running into lately is that I am not getting any response to the posts I've been applying to. I think it might be due to the fact that I have no experience of previous case management on my resume. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus If anyone can offer any advice, guidance or tips of things I can do to get noticed and stand out, please share. All answers are greatly appreciated. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Serious advice or comments please! MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Thanks in advance![View Answers]
Career in B.C working with youth?1William Bent2012-10-05 09:23:05
Hi there . I have a B.A. Psychology and have three degrees after years of experience working with young children . I'm getting ready to move to the U.S. JC and would like to make plans for a stable (ie : economic security , or do not fancy - ) future in Canada who works with children and youth . I was sincerely interested in community support / family counseling , case management and behavioral assistant job . Does anyone have any opinion about my options better or worse ? I probably only have the money / time to do an evening program if more education is required . Also, I'm sure if my current degree can land me nothing beats a barista gig in British Columbia . I have 8-12 months to finalize my plans and I want to put my best , most prepared foot forward . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Any ideas would be greatly appreciated . Thank you ![View Answers]
