Can I go back to college to finish a degree?1Adolp2016-07-13 23:33:05
Say, for example, when I was in college I majored in Psychology. While I was in college I took 7 classes in Economics (21 credits). To get a Bachelor's degree in Econ., I need 30 credits. Can I go back to school and take those 3 classes required to earn the degree or do I have to start from scratch? Thanks[View Answers]
If i want to get into medical school, what should I major in?1poe2016-07-13 23:21:25
I hear medical school is more difficult these days, &I want to become a psychiatrist. Is it a good idea to major in psychology in college, or would it be better to major in a science to get into medical school? I heard that a psychology major isn't a big deal]: So what would a good idea be for a major for a psychiatrist? Thanks xoxoxoxoxo[View Answers]
Can I improve GPA after a first bad semester?0Philippa2012-11-06 07:10:52
I will be completely honest: I did not take my first semester in junior college as seriously as I should have. My GPA was 2.66. In high school I was one of the top 1/3 in my class and I usually received all A's and B's (if not one or two C's) I nearly failed English this semester (I took it seriously as first, then I slacked off later on because of the unnecessarily easy assignments). I got caught up in the partying scene at college (something that I was never involved in during high school), making new friends, and enjoying the newly obtained freedom. I had this disturbing mentality that I didn't have to work that hard... but now I want to change and go back to the old me- the one who took every class, assignment, and exam seriously. Do you think that if I work very hard and manage a high GPA for the remaining semesters of junior college, I can get accepted into a good medical school? I am a psychology major, but I'm stretching myself to take pre-medicine classes as well. I need to develop some good study habits, ones that I'll actually stick to doing.[View Answers]
How do I write my resume if I attended two undergraduate colleges?0Burges2012-11-06 06:08:07
I attended one university for a year and a half, under the Biology major. I transferred schools, and graduated from the second university under the Psychology major with a Biology minor. On my resume, should I put that I attended the first school under one major, and that i graduated from the second school under another major? Help![View Answers]
Should I stay in school longer to double major?0Prp2012-11-06 06:04:06
I am wrapping up my biology major in about one or two more semesters. I have come to the conclusion that this was probably the wrong major choice and don't have much interest in pursuing the field once i graduate. I think I want to get into counseling or helping people in a non-hospital setting. My main problem is that I only have a vague idea of where i want to go... and have no experience in those fields. I have been contemplating adding a minor, which i think I will. Most likely in psychology. This may set me back a semester at most, but I can complete those classes at a community college. I am going to a guidance counselor at my school next week, but would just like some opinions: Do you think staying in school maybe another year or year and a half (I've been in school for four years now) and double-majoring is a good option? I would probably double major in psyc or a related discipline.[View Answers]

What field should I major in/what college should I go to?0dharmendra2012-11-06 05:39:07
I know I want to major in something involving mental health. As in, I want to help treat and rehabilitate people with various mental disorders I'm not sure exactly what field I should be looking into, psychology or psychiatry (and more specifically what area should I go into within one of those fields)? I also have no idea where to even begin in picking a college that has a great department in this field. (I was hoping to have my minor in Philosophy as well, if that could narrow the field any...) My GPA is up and down between about a 3.0 &3.5 (so let's say 3.25). I've yet to take my ACT/SAT (I'm only a Sophomore), but my projected score for the ACT is 26-31. I want to start figuring all this out before Junior year so I can begin planning my next two years of classes accordingly, and busting my butt to try and get into whatever school I set my sights on. Thanks in advance for any suggestions![View Answers]

College Majors: Popular vs. Practical?0Mittens2012-11-06 04:13:32
To start out I am attending college myself and aspire to graduate some day. That being said, I attended a couple college graduations last year (1 specifically at the University of Minnesota) I noticed a trend, per se, that shocked me, and at the same time didn't. I sat through the names of at least 1,000 graduates, at this one particular ceremony out of several held by the liberal arts school that spring, and noticed something odd. What I found odd is that at least 80-90% of the degrees that these graduates were getting were the same. Out of the 20+ or so degrees that you could choose from at the liberal arts college of the U of M, the vast majority chose a communications/strategic communications degree. Out of all the departments, which have various degrees within each, such as Anthropology, Economics, Gender, Women, &Sexuality Studies, Geography, Global Studies, Journalism &Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, most chose to major in communications. Every now and then there would be something really specific like women's studies or something else, or someone that double majored in communications and a world language, but all in all there was little diversity over the entire graduating class. Is this a trend or does this happen everywhere? I chose to study a very specific major (I/TT; computer science) and have noticed the same thing (several people studying the same major) when I enrolled. What is the intrigue of getting one of the slightly vague "McMajors" like communications. Why would somebody spend 4+ years in college to get a piece of paper that says they know how to speak and communicate?[View Answers]
Will I be able to get a pretty good job with a bachelors in psychology?0Secoyah2012-11-06 02:54:20
I'm turning 20 and went to college fulltime all year long so I can transfer on early. My major is psychology, someday I'd like to be a psychologist but I know it takes a long time and alot of money. I'm worried becuase I really would like to get a good job when I finish my bachelors and I need to take out loans to anyway, so when I go on for my master's I'd like to be in some sort of full time that will support me so I can move out. Does this happen? I know psychology you need higher degrees, and sometimes people are mean and say people who get their bachelors with a psych major just become waitresses. I'm sick of retail and have been working it since I was 15 so I'd really like to get a good job and move out! I'm considering taking a year out in between and doing something like cosmeteology to get a job and then go on to finish my degree part time. Help?[View Answers]

I'm an English major, should I minor in Psychology or Film Studies?0Guadelupe2012-11-06 02:26:40
I am an English Creative Writing major. Honestly, I am unsure of what I will do after I graduate college, but I do know that Creative Writing is my strength. I need a minor in order to graduate and cannot decide between Psychology or Film Studies? Psychology is my 2nd best strength but Communications/Media I'm not so good in, but would minoring in Film Studies be more beneficial than Psychology? I may work for advertising, magazines, or the media so Film Studies would be beneficial, but even if I minored in Psychology would that still be okay? (I am leaning more towards a Psychology minor but I am unsure if that would be beneficial?) Thank you for the answers![View Answers]

College Major Question!?0XOXO2012-11-06 01:35:30
I"m indecisive about my college major, I'm going to be a high school senior this upcoming year and I have two potential majors in mind. They are advertising and psychologoy. I"m wondering, since most people say that you can't really do anything with a degree in psychology..is it even worth it? Personally I think it's pretty interesting, but I don't want to major in something and regret it 'cuz I can't find any proper work. Advertising I'm a bit iffy about...not too sure about how stable a job that can be. I was thinking about majoring in BOTH advertising and psychology, is that possible? Would that even make a good combo? Good input please, I don't need snide comments my 14yr old brother can give me.[View Answers]
How do I know if college is right for me?0Daca2012-11-06 00:49:41
I'm a junior in high school, and everyone is telling me that I need to be thinking about college. Whenever I think of my college, my stomach starts hurting and I feel panicky. I am not good at anything academically; I have always been an average student. English has always been my best subject but honestly I am only average at that and it doesn't interest me. I failed math this year (but I dropped it and the grade), and I'm failing science. I try really hard. I study two hours a night, do the homework, and I have a tutor 3 times a week! Nothing helps though. My brain is somehow utterly incapable of taking in the information!! I have always hated school, but I wonder if college would be different. I don't know what my strengths are or what I like to do so I do not know what I would study in college. My mom says she thinks I should do a psychology major but I don't know. I have always loved travelling and I really love french/france (I have been studying french since i was 12, and have gone to france twice). I have no work experience (but ton of volunteer work), so I think it would be kind of hard for me to get a job if I took a gap year. What do you think I should do? Should I go to college? If so, where?[View Answers]
