Can an anti-depressant that's worked for you for a long time stop working all the sudden?1Breann2016-07-13 23:31:55
For the longest time, through the grace of God, Welbutrin XL has been the perfect anti-depressant with me. When I was in middle school, I was extremely depressed due to several factors such as parents divorcing, my dog dying, not getting to see my mom. Then I got on Welbutrin and instantly I stopped thinking negative about myself and started thinking only good things about myself. Four years later as a senior in high school all the sudden I am becoming depressed again although I am still on Welbutrin. I am taking a full college load right now through a dual credit program at a community college in North Texas. It's completely affecting my performance in school. I think one of the main reasons my depression came back is because I am so stressed with this psychology class that I am taking. It is an introductory course, but the teacher treats it like it's graduate school psychology. We had to write an eight page paper recently and I haven't been able to get it done. I feel like an idiot because I'm ruining my college GPA. Before this semester started, I had 12 college credits so far with a 4.0 college GPA. Now, I'm either going to make a B or a C in psychology and feel like an idiot. It'll bring down my GPA to a 3.85 or something, which really sucks. I'm a perfectionist if you haven't noticed. I really wanted to graduate with a 4.0 in college, and now that won't be a possibility. But anyways, now I'm all depressed. I've started saying things like "I need to die" or "I want to kill myself." For the past couple years in high school, thanks to my amazing Life Teen program at the Catholic Church I go to, I have truly developed a strong relationship with God. Normally, I always feel the Holy Spirit within me. But lately, these past few weeks I haven't felt God at all and am scared. I feel so alone. I feel like my life is getting ruined. I feel so pathetic. So my question is can an anti-depressant that's always blocked out negative thoughts from your head stop working all the sudden?[View Answers]
Becoming a psychiatrist...?1The One2016-07-13 23:31:49
I will be receiving my BA in Psychology next month. I have been considering becoming a psychiatrist instead of a psychologist. I have applied to a masters program (mental health counseling). Can I continue with my masters and take extra courses to become a psychiatrist or would I have to go back and take the necessary courses to apply to medical school? I do not want to waste more time then needed... Does a psychiatrist make much more than a psychologist?[View Answers]
Does it matter where I get my Bachelor degree if I'm going to go on to get a PhD?1feyi2016-07-13 23:31:45
I'll be getting my Associate of Arts in about a year, and I'm taking this time to decide where I want to go for my Bachelor's of Psychology, and maybe even my Master's and PhD. As it is, there is a university about an hour away from me that offers a BA and BS in Psychology, but is a school that is more for Engineering or Physics majors and the like. They don't even have grad programs for Psychology. However, there is a university about three hours away from me that is one of the better universities in the state for Psychology, and has graduate degrees with several different emphasis (like counseling, clinical, or neurological). I think I would prefer to stay close for a little while longer, then maybe even go out of state for a graduate degree, but I don't know if potential employers look at undergraduate degree locations as much as they do graduate. Help?[View Answers]
What career is right for me?1Hailea2016-07-13 23:17:48
I am almost 16yrs old, female. I will be a junior in high school this yr. I need to settle down &look into some careers b/c my highschool offers great career programs. I could never do anything in healthcare, b/c I cannot stand math or sciences. I'm not a logical thinker. I consider myself creative &a little bit stupid. Entrepreneuring would be awesome , but I have no reason to start a business. Psychology would be great but the only way to make money in psych is if I lie &just write books like they all do. I may just consider it. I am also looking into politics. All I care about is money really. -I'd like to dress up in nice suits for my career -travel alot -have connections with the world -i want to speak to ppl in different languages -I want to be important and have authority Suggestions would be amazing thankyou so much. &also when/what age did you discover your passion??[View Answers]

I am trying to decide between psychology and English with a teaching concentration. My friends all tell me I would be a good teacher, and my parents say I should be a psychologist like my uncle. I've read into both a lot, and they both interest me. The trouble is, the teaching program is really intense, so I can't switch back and forth after my sophomore year.[View Answers]

My chances to a good pre-med college?0Jessica Jenkins2012-11-06 05:33:02
Well, I'm going into my senior year now, so I thought I'd ask this. I have an SAT score of 2010, a weighted GPA of about 3.0. This year I took AP Biology and AP psychology, and next year I'm taking AP Calculus AB. Since 7th grade I've completed 80 hours of community service, with another 20 in my senior year, making 100 hours. I go to a college prep school that's well known in the area with colleges. The only thing I'm worried about is the GPA, since it isn't the best. But my main question is, what are some good colleges with medical programs in the area a little bit north of UCSD (San Diego), and what are my chances to get into them? I would try UCSD, but apparently 2010 is just an average SAT score there, my GPA isn't, and it's a bit far from where I want to be. I can't afford a college much more than $25,000 a year, since even with financial aid I don't have all that much money, but I still want to go to the best I can. Any suggestions?[View Answers]
Which college do you think is better? University of Maine in Farmington OR University of Southern Maine?0Ingrid2012-11-06 05:28:47
I'm from Vermont, but I want to attend college in Maine. I'm a junior so I have some time to reach a final decision. There's two colleges in Maine that really interest me: University of Maine in Farmington and University of Southern Maine. And there's two career options that really interest me: Psychology and Pre-Med. If I choose to major in psych is one of the colleges that I named have a better program than the other? What about for pre-med? If there's anyone who has attended either of these schools or is in enrolled in one of them right now, could you tell me a bit about what you like about it? I'm going to visit each of these colleges within the next couple of months. I'm going to Farmington in less than two weeks. I just want to know what I should expect on campus and such. Thanks for answering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![View Answers]

How do I become a midwife in Virginia?0AllyKat2012-11-06 03:16:58
I live in Northern Virginia and have a BA in Psychology and would like to find out more about becoming a midwife. I assume being a CPM would be the best path for me because I believe that you have to have a BSN to be a CNM, but please correct me if I am wrong. The NARM website says one of the requirements is to be a graduate of an MEAC accredited program, but it seems the closest one is in Vermont which doesn't really help my cause. If anyone could give me any information as to where to start, resources, time or cost estimates, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you[View Answers]
