Can you guess what star sign i am? Ten points of victory!!!!!?0Lyss2012-11-06 06:51:02
I like to study human behaviour and so psychology. I love psychology and personality tests. I like to understand things from the meaning of life to why people do certain things. What's the reason behind something or what's the truth.I am a seeker of truth is what i'm trying to say. I just want to know things...i just wanna find out everything. I don't know why. I have this massive eep passion and desire to understand THE UNIVERSE, THE WORLD, IF GOD EXISTS, WHY THE EFF ARE WE HERE, IS THERE A REASON, or is there simply, non. My curiosity knows NO BOUNDS.no limits, i can ponder things from morning to noon.I wake up with the knowledge that this is another day , i wonder what will happen today, i wonder what kind of day it will be today. What will the day hold today? What is this days purpose or just what is happening outside, out there, what's going on in the world. I love food and cooking and i'm a fantastic cook. I like trying new flavours and tastes in foods. Food isn't just to fill u up, i think like you can have lots of different experiences, just by eating different foods. One more thing i wanna say is that i like comedy a lot and enjoy laughing out LOUD! lol< HAHA I'm pretty funny too, my jokes are usually sarcastic and witty.Im a fast speaker, or can be. I used to as a child be popular in school and be the class clown but im not now, im more quieter now and reserved. Just observing the world and peculiarities in it make me laugh. That is it...1 im curious as hell, one bit of me that's strong 2 I love food and trying new things, things that intrigue me, like different countries and anything that looks weird or interesting, i get drawn too. and 3 i like to laugh and i love comedy, it my best genre in programmes and films other then like blockbuster hits like The day after tomorrow. I usually like sci fi like aliens films etc. So from knowing the three most deepest part of my personality, what star sign do you think i sound like?[View Answers]

How can i gain clinical experience to become a PA?0dzingai2012-11-06 01:56:39
i'm currently a senior in HS. i haven't decided which college i am going to, but i want to get my BS (i heard that having a bachelors looks more favorable) as of now, i have indicated to schools that i want to major in psychology. many people have told me that this is a good major for PA school, but my main reason is that i truly am interested in it. in four years when i graduate with my BS in psychology, i'm afraid i won't get accepted to a PA school because i won't have any clinical experience. i have volunteered in several hospitals as a high schooler and i plan to continue during my undergrad years, but someone told me that this is not enough...they said that volunteering will not look as favorable as work experience. i know that most people who apply to PA school are already nurses, paramedics, etc. how can i gain this kind of experience so that i can apply to PA school right out of undergrad? i don't want to waste time after undergrad trying to get certified in some other 2 year program. can i do internships while i am in undergrad? will that help me? any advice would be great, thanks! :)[View Answers]

Should I withdrawal from Physics?0Morgan Rosell2012-11-06 01:37:22
I am a junior at a state university and I am currently in Physics I, which is **NOT** required by my major (Psychology). I had elected to take it because I was considering applying to medical school, but I have since decided against taking the MCAT and such, and I've begun to focus on working towards being admitted to a PhD program. I recently got a 53 on a Physics exam (I was *so* sure I got a 100%, but the pr**ck TA who graded it gave me 2/25 for one problem because I wrote 15sin40 was 9.6 instead of 9.641) The outlook is not looking good in Physics. If I got a 100% on the final and all other exams, I'd scoot out of there with a grade in the high 80s, but let's face it --- I'm not a quantitative person, and I'm not going to get past a B+ on any physics or calculus exam. My current GPA is 3.7. My question is, should I withdrawal from this elective in order to protect my grade, fearing what graduate school admissions will say, or stay and work my TAIL off with the possibility of destroying my GPA .[View Answers]
What courses do I need to become a Nurse Practitioner?0opg2012-11-06 01:24:53
I'm currently pre-med student majoring in Psychology but am considering being a Nurse Practitioner instead. I know that you need a BS in nursing to more forward to become an NP but what I'm wondering is if there are accelerated programs if you already have a Bachelor's Degree. (in my case, a BS in Psychology) and I would have already taken my MCAT so would that be looked at as an alternative to the GRE??[View Answers]

I've asked this question a few times but have yet to get an answer. I'm trilingual: Arabic, French and English I have ~2 years of work experience in non-profits as well as ~1 year interning with the Smithsonian. I currently work as a linguist for my university to fund my education. My dream is to get accepted into the MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management. I would love to be involved in Middle Eastern and African water conflict resolutions and policy making. That being said, how can I increase my chances of acceptance into the Oxford MSc program? I still have a couple of years before I apply... what can I do now? I would appreciate any advice or help you may have to give me.[View Answers]

What are the pro's and con's of a PsyD in Clinical Psychology vs a M.S.W. with a L.C.S.W?0sloth2012-11-06 00:22:50
I'm coming up on my senior year, I'm getting a B.S. with a minor in Psych. I really want to work with mental health, preferably in my own practice. I know its 5 years for the PsyD and at least 100k. The M.S.W is only 2 years (plus an extra 1 1/2 or so for the L.C.S.W) and about 40k. I'm going to be 22 when I start these programs and I want to be able to settle down and AFFORD kids. 100k and 5 years is a LOT of commitment, especialy when most PsyDs dont come with 20k research internships. So far all I have found is some 4k clinical internships. I want to counsel people, to work with their anxiety and self esteem, to be able to diagnose and create treatment plans. And I'm certainly not opposed to working in group or clinic settings. I'm terribly worried about paying for college, i'm terrible at scholarship writing and my parents make enough money to limit financial aid, but they certainly are not going to pay for it. I'm so unsure as to which program to choose. M.S.W. certainly seems quicker and cheaper, but will it allow me to do what I want? I'd love the opinions of any M.S.W.s or PsyDs. How did you make your decision?[View Answers]

Will I get accepted to the college I want?0Wilpan2012-11-05 23:54:15
I've asked this question before, but I didn't seem to get enough feedback... so, I'm reposting. Here is some information: Freshman year GPA: 4.0 Sophomore year GPA: 3.68 Junior year GPA: 4.1 I'm an upcoming senior. Here are the courses that I've taken so far: Freshman year - Pre- AP Biology, Pre-AP English, Pre-AP World History, P.E., Latin 1, Art 1, Pre-AP Algebra 1 **Pre-AP was the highest level class that was offered for both freshmen and sophomores** Sophomore year - Pre-AP Geometry, Psychology, Pre-AP U.S. History, Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-AP Algebra 2 with Trig., Latin 2, Pre-AP English **I doubled up on math so I could get to calculus by senior year. I chose it as an elective. I also took zero period drivers ed./health before school.** Junior year - AP Chemistry (double period), AP U.S. History, AP English, Pre-AP Pre-Calculus, Bio-Med, Personal Finance **Pre-AP Pre-Calculus was all that was offered. There was so AP.** Extra-curricular/school involvement: - I am a member of the youth board for my school's foundation - I am an ambassador for the school - I have helped with the boys's soccer team - I help with my school's Life Skills Academy, which is the special ed. I help plan events such as Special Olympics, field trips, Prom, and their Valentines Day dance - I have helped raise money for a boy that was injured in a car accident - I am part of Interact, which is a community service program - I am part of the Wellness Club - Member of the Thespian Society (Pretty much a drama club) - I have participated in suicide prevention walks and a breast cancer awareness walk - I'm in the National Honor Society - I've participated in my community's Earth Day where I picked up trash across town for 3 years straight Academies I've been involved in: Academy of Finance Bio-Medical Academy I'm planning on taking the ACT twice this year and my goal is a 30. I know I can get it with a lot of hard work. But even with everything I've done and been involved in, I'm not sure if I'll get accepted into the three colleges I'm considering (Auburn, UAB, and Samford - not Stanford)[View Answers]
What do I do with my life?0Asley2012-11-05 23:51:25
Alright, I realize this question is a little out there but I really don't know what to do with myself. I am 23 years old, graduated high school in 05 and am still trying to figure out what I want to do as far as school and career fields. I am interested in a lot of stuff, mainly stuff like computers, electronics, machinery, alternative energy sources, the NASA program and just space itself, natural environments, philosophy, psychology, music...etc. I have tried different college majors and still feel like I am wasting my time and talent! How do I make a career out of something like this? And most importantly, how do I make a good career out of something like this...one where I don't have to travel somewhere all over the world, and where I can settle down and create a family of my own, but I also want to stay around my existing family and be able to enjoy them as well. I know I would like to make a difference in this lifetime, I just dont know how to do it, I have tried school, thought of many many different career fields, and Im just not happy...anybody have any ideas out there? I would greatly appreciate real input on this. How about any ideas on how I can make it in North Eastern PA without selling my soul to the devil??[View Answers]

Please help, distraught over grad applications thanks to GRE scores?0Electricity:providing energy2012-11-05 23:22:31
I'm currently in the process of applying to various doctoral and masters programs in psych, I have a strong cumulative gpa of 3.7 and a 3.9 in my major (psychology) I am graduating with honors from a well known 'public ivy league university', I also have a lot of relevant applied and internship experience in the field I am applying to as well as research experice, I'm also president of an organization at my school, and will have strong letters of recommendation from well known professors at my University....my HUGE concern/worry/problem is how horrendous I've done on the GRE.....I've studied and studied and yet have terrible results....I took it in august and did horribly (combined 800) then took it October and improved to 920 which is still very, very bad I know...and today I took it and cried my way home and can't sleep now because of my fears of admission...my score actually went down....a significant amount...and I can't stop feeling so horribly worried...I have no time to take it again, I know my chances for a doctorate are obsolete....but do I have a chance for admission to masters programs? Someone familiar with this process please help, how horribly will the admissions committee consider this horrendous outcome? Im so distraught...please help..[View Answers]
Should I apply for counseling psy Psy.D then transfer?0Conder2012-11-05 23:07:54
I want to get my doctorate and I'm trying to narrow down which schools I would like to apply to. An adviser told me I wouldn't get into any clinical Ph.D. programs and that I should instead apply for counseling psychology Ph.D. programs. What I really want is to get into a good Psy.D. program, but I also fear that I wont get into any of these clinical programs as well. Should I apply for a less competitive concentration and then hope to transfer in after proving I can get the grades? Are you aloud to transfer concentrations within schools?[View Answers]
Differences btwn psycholinguistics, cognitive psych, speech-language pathology?0suszie2012-11-05 22:52:22
I am a senior in college and am choosing a university for grad school. I love University of Florida's PhD. program in psycholinguistics, but I am a bit concerned about my career options after graduation. I am interested in research and teaching, but also am interested in clinical practice -- moreso, I think I would like to work with language disorders in some way. However, this sounds more like speech-language pathology than clinical psychology, I think. And from the research I've done so far, I am more interested in the coursework and research in a psycholinguistics program. So, what are some differences between the three? If I were to study psycholinguistics, what could I do besides research and/or teach? Would it be possible to work in a psychology-office setting as a psycholinguist? Or should I study cognitive psychology to do that? Like I said, I am definitely interested in research and teaching, but I am trying to be practical and make sure I have career options after spending all this time in school. Any information you can give me would be helpful. Thanks!![View Answers]

What are some good universities that offer masters programs in neuroscience?0Tiffany Jade2012-11-05 22:48:05
Also, which undergrad majors are typically accepted into these programs? The university I will be attending doesn't offer neuroscience as a major - would Psychology or a hard science like Biology or Biochemistry be sufficient? Thanks for your time.[View Answers]
I'm looking for a good backup school for biology or psychology?0disk_ck2012-11-05 22:30:44
So, I’ve been doing some research, but I’m finding a hard time narrowing down my choices of colleges. I have my reach and "maybe" schools already figured out, I just need some recommendations on some good backup schools. Obviously, I’m not trying to get into the Ivy League schools, but a small liberal arts school that either has a decent program for neuroscience, biology or psychology is preferable… although considering where I’m at, almost anything is fine… My gpa is.. unfortunately.. a 3.5 My ACT is ... sadly… 24, (although its late, I may retake this again, since my scores have been going by up hundreds (for SAT at least) each time I take it..) My class rank is also unfortunate.. Weighted, I’m in about the 37% percentile. But I have hundreds of hours for community service, and I’ve been in at least 3 or 4 clubs since my freshman year. I helped start a two clubs (including writing the constitution), which I am now VP for. I have only been taking IB classes for the last two years, so I’ll be graduating with a total of 11 IB classes, and several (at least 6) running start classes. (Considering that my school only offers IB and running start after sophomore year, this is somewhat all over the place. Hopefully, though, it might be seen as a good thing..?) I currently live in Washington (so, definitely applying to UW) but I’m open to any colleges out there for now. Thank you! p.s. I know its late, but hopefully someone will help me..[View Answers]
